Business executives from different countries can encounter several barriers to effective communication besides obvious language differences. The traditional pace of business negotiations can be different. Americans sometimes want to hurry negotiations along, whereas in some other countries emphasis is placed on building relationships before a business deal is seriously considered. Executives from other countries may place a higher value on things such as facial expression instead of just the words that are being said.

Languages Codes

The first thing to get right when working with multiple languages on a website is making sure the language is identified in the code of the page.

Multiple Languages

The majority of web pages use a single language at a time, however there maybe occasions when you want to include a language other than the primary one on your pages.

Google and language recognition

Unlike assistive technologies such as screen readers, Google does not recognise language identifiers such as 'lang' attributes in the code of the page. Google tries to work out the main languages of your pages itself.

Many companies strive to diversify their workforce by focusing on recruiting and hiring workers of different cultural backgrounds and nationalities. A multicultural workforce can offer benefits such as a broader range of perspectives and a greater ability to compete in the global marketplace. Introducing new languages and cultures into a work environment can also create barriers that must be overcome. Language differences can hinder effective communication. Workers who are not fluent in the primary language used in the workplace may have difficulty expressing their needs or responding to requests from colleagues. If their job involves customer contact, they may have difficulty understanding a customer inquiry and provide incorrect or misleading information. A customer who is unable to clearly understand the worker due to a heavy accent or lack of command of the language may become frustrated and take his business elsewhere.
Recommendation
1) Narrow your market. Look for same target customer.
2) Conduct survey. Getting feedback from online and try to learn their language.
3) Hire an interpreter. Find someone can trust who can give your company instruction in their local language.
4) Avoid idioms, jargon, and slang words. When speaking English to your overseas staff, avoid any sort of confusion by using more formal English and staying away from jargon and slang words that wouldn’t be recognized in other parts of the world.
