The workshop encouraged teachers to participate in an Information and Communication Technology (I.C.T.) Professional Development Program. Three teachers were selected from each school within the South Eastern Educational District (S.E.E.D.) in which there were eight schools registered for this program. Teachers were chosen from the departments of Natural Science and Technical Vocational areas and cluster in a group 1.

When I arrived at the school at about 8:20 a.m. I was asked to sign the visitors register and then proceeded to the I.C.T. room were the program was being held. We waited until the majority of teachers were present and the co-ordinator introduced herself. Teachers were then asked to introduce themselves to the group.

The day was very well spent, we were introduced to policies by the teachers. Policies in terms of the role it plays in the education system. We were introduced to the policy of Bring Your Own Device (B.Y.O.D) and Mobile Phone Policy.

These policies play a very important and beneficial role in the education system. What I can reflect and have learnt from today's workshop is that policies are a system of principles put together to guide the decision making to produce positive outcomes in organization. It is a written statement which implements the procedures adopted by an organization.

The role of a policy in an educational organization is to provide certain guidelines, rules and laws towards implementing the goals and to achieve these goals in a positive and effective manner.

The two policies that was mentioned in today's class are Bring Your Own Device (B.Y.O.D) and Mobile Phone Policy. I think that the significance of these two policies are very questionable. Can these two policies have a great impact on the education system whether it has a positive or negative outcome. This all depends on how we implement these policies. What are the guidelines, rules and regulations do we have to follow to ensure that these policies are established in the proper manner and ensure positive results?

The roles of policies in the education system, guides my practices in the field of teaching very smoothly and without disruptions. I say this, due to students' behavior in terms of discipline, attendance and attitude. Policies govern the guidelines, rules and regulations for an effective and positive outcome and should be clear and specific.

As a result of these policies introduced to me at the end of the first session I better understood the policies and a way forward by the Ministry of Education in wanting to implement I.C.T in the classrooms. Under the I.C.T. programme, I must say that today was indeed interactive, sharing, fun and exciting. I do look forward for next session.

The internet is one of the greatest inventions of all times. It allows us the ability to access just about any information readily. The internet is one of the fastest ways to connect with and to communicate with people from all around the world. We require the internet for several reasons and it is used daily by millions of people. The internet isn't all good though. It can become potentially dangerous when unwanted information gets to the wrong audience. Many people have suffered a lot of embarrassment and emotional pain as a result of personal information being shared via the internet. The internet can be used to hack into the personal files of people, it can be used for internet fraud, cyber bullying, identity theft and to stage other crimes such as drug trades, kidnappings and murder. People using the internet should be mindful of such activities and should exercise caution when posting personal information on the internet.
