When reading the story Cinderalla through a feminist focal point, it helped me understand the expectations society had for women, and the expectations women would have for themselves. It taught me how even though it took place in the 1950's that women still didn't have that many rights and only had the purpose of giving their hand in marriage. The story also took place at a time where appercance mattered the most. This can be reflected in today's society as appearance is a common category people look at it when comes to dating and giving their hand in marriage. Looking at Moon of the crusted snow through a feminist perspective, Indigenous women were given strong roles such as staying at home and making sure the household ran smoothly. Reflecting this to today's society a lot of men would consider women staying at home and taking care of the kids and house barely an important job compared to what they do.  As a female, staying at home and taking care of a family is a really hard job that women don't get credit for. In the book moon of the crusted snow the author has a positive portrayal in Indigenous women. The hate you give is about  Star Carter has been born and raised in Garden Heights, but she attends an all-white school.(SparkNotes) But because of that, she is torn between two worlds and when witnesses the death of her best friend Khalil, an unarmed black man. (SparkNotes).  Her life is flipped upside-down. She struggles with her own credibility as a black female dating someone who is white and being a friend with both white and black people.  This book can relate to my life because when I was younger and growing up I had to have the police talk with my parents in case I would ever encounter an officer. One time I was with my friends and the security guard asked to talk to me because they thought I stole something when I didn't and my friends had to all tell the security guard that I didn't take anything. Every time I go to stores I always get looked at and followed. This book portrays the struggles that I also have to deal with. In Moon with the crusted snow, the main character Evan Whiteskey also known as the hero portrays the archetype theory. This is illustrated when the snowstorm attacks the Anishinaabe community. Through-out the book we get to see the psychology development of Evan Whiteskey. The main character's goal is to overcome the obstacle of darkness. The main character takes the lead role when it comes to protecting his community, he takes care of the town by handing out flyers which would provide assistance on storing food and making sure there is enough food for everyone in his community. This is shown through the quote "Safely store food, next update Monday'' (Rice 41). This shows that Evan would do anything to protect his community and wouldn't want to hide any information that he knows especially with the intense snowstorm that was attacking them. The protagonist also took the lead role by assisting his wife that there is nothing to worry about. Nicole was worried about there not being enough food and was generally worried for the sake of their children, Evan came along and said: "We have enough food, wood, gas and other stuff to keep us going until spring" (Rice 90). The hero's personality is described to be brave, willing to find a solution to any problem, and lead people and keep them safe and that's exactly what Evan does. In the book, Evan says “How do you suggest doing that?” (Rice 85). This shows that he's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure his people are safe. Another character in the book that portrays that hero personality is Chief Terry. He and Evan hand in hand would do anything to make sure everything runs smoothly in any problem as stated before. Terry also represents one of the archetypes in the 12 archetypes by Carl Jung. Terry is the sage in which he is supposed to provide wisdom in which he does. This is demonstrated when Terry said Before people start getting worried or acting crazy, we’re gonna fire up the generators” (Rice 35). Terry is the kind of character that needs closure and needs information before coming up with isolation which makes him the sage because he can always find a way around a problem. Another Archetypal theory that I identified was the symbols and imagery that were used in the book to help create a visual in the reader's head.
