You’ve brought such calm, clarity and kindness to the whirlwind of press deadlines, reactive statements, and media mayhem-all with that signature Giles blend of level-headedness, good humour, and excellent hair. You’ve handled everything from ministerial chaos to press drama with a cool head and a well-placed comma. Frankly, we’re not sure how we’ll cope without you. (No pressure superman!)

Swapping PR for social work is no small leap. It’s bold, brave and deeply YOU. We’re so proud of you for following your heart (and slightly terrified for the social work profession when they discover just how good you are). You’re going to make an incredible difference to people’s lives- you already have here.

Go forth and change the world .But don’t forget us when you’re knee-deep in reflective logs and placements. And please know you’ll be missed, not just for your brilliant brain, but for your kindness, your calm, your wit, and your commitment to never using two sentences when one will do.

I don't think I've ever worked with a media 'handler' as supportive, creative, positive and reliable to you. I'm truly sorry to see you go but hope you'll get at least a few lie-ins and weekends to yourself in your next job. It's been ace and it's really hard to imagine the team without you.
