March 30, 1820, Missouri Compromise

I chose this event because of its social significance in expansion and population. The Missouri Compromise was a legislative attempt to maintain the balance of power between the North and South in Congress by admitting Missouri as a slave state and Main as a free state. As it also discussed political significance as it was about balance of power. The Missouri Compromise was a important issue going on in sectionalism as it delayed but did not prevent the expansion of slavery. The Missouri Compromise also highlighted and brought insight of growing sectional divisions as it set the stage for the Civil war. The Missouri Compromise was one of the many issues occurring in sectionalism. Some of the outcomes of the Missouri Compromise was the temporary resolution as it temporarily settled the heated national debate over slavery and westward expansion of the nation, as well as the sectional balance because it appeased both North and South by allowing slavery in Missouri but restricting its expansion into the vast Louisiana Territory.

I chose this event because of its social and religious significance as due to this it failed to unite the nation which intensified the Northern abolitionist sentiment and South's commitment to slavery. The Compromise of 1850 was a series of five laws which were designed to prevent the secession of Southern states by resolving the dispute over expansion of slavery into the U.S. territories. The Compromise of 1850 reflects as the fugitive slave act compelled citizens in free states to assist in capturing runaway slaves. This event is important to me due to the impact it caused, the Compromise of 1850 deepend the sectional chasm by enraging anti-slavery Northerners, while also intensifying Southern fears and demands for the protection of slavery. The Compromise of 1850 also temporarily resolved tensions over slavery but had brought the United States to the brink of Civil War. The Missouri Compromise overall cause conflict as it almost caused the United States to go to war as well as took part in slavery.

I chose this event because of it religious significance which is that it caused a moral outrage as it caused northerners, including religious leaders, to view the expansion of slavery as a moral injustice. Another significance this event had is political which was that it had a political realignment. The political realignment shattered the existing second-party system. Due to this event it caused escalating national tension over slavery which lead to the "Bleeding Kansas", which served as the start to the American Civil War. I feel this event is important as it was one of the major issues in Sectionalism and had a major impact.

I chose this event due to its religious significance as it caused divisions over slavery. It also had an intellectual significance which caused sectional ideologies which was the different views of society which ended up causing conflict. The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States between the Union and the Confederacy, this war was about whether slavery should be permitted to further expand beyond the South into Western areas. I feel this is a important issue as it preserved the United States as a single nation as it led to the abolition of slavery as it also resulted in a more powerful federal government.

I chose this event due to its political significance as it caused four major collapses of empires which was the Russian, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and German empires. This event is extremely important to not just me but many others as well as we tend to discuss this issue a lot and remember it seeming as it was a pretty serious issue. We have learned about this war and its impact/issues it caused in history as it wasn't just a small war, this war caused many issues to our world as even now we still tend to bring up and discuss World War I in our lives today. This war caused many destructions in the time and also many deaths/fatalities occured during this war.

I chose this event due to its religious significance as it caused the Holocaust to occur as well as it had a economic significance seeming as it caused inflation and government controls. I chose this event as I felt it was a important event that occurred, seeming as I did WW1 I felt as if WW2 should be included as well as it was a part of WW1 and is another major war that deserves to be mentioned. As I mentioned with WW1 we tend to discuss this event in history or even our daily lives, as well as we do the same with WW2. This issue wasn't something small as it had a major impact such as it took vast economic mobilization, government took steps to regulate the industries and transportation, as another impact was that it sinked the Lusitania and Zimmerman Telegram. World War 1 and 2 are both a event we remember today as it is a important event in history.

I chose these event due to their social and political significance, seeming as the 13th amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude nationwide, the 14th amendment had granted citizenship to all people born or naturalized in the U.S, lastly for the 15th amendment it prohibited states from denying the right to vote based on race. I felt as if these amendments are important and chose them to be on the timeline seeming as the details stated above were the impact of these amendments. Some of these amendments gave freedom/peace and are an important event in history.

I chose this event due to its political significance which is that it caused political conflict such as public education has been becoming increasingly politicized, with widespread conflict over different topics such as race, library books, etc. As another significance it has was social, this caused the separation of church and state as they declared mandatory prayer in the schools. This event is important to know so that we can truly look into and see the impact this had on people, sure public education establishment may sound like it was the best thing in the world to happy in 1635-1647, it still had some cons. The establishment of public education was a good thing for the students wanting education but also had many negative sides to it seeming as it wasn't all good things.

I chose this event due to its economic significance as it caused economic growth seeming as it had a surge in businesses moving into the region due to its lower taxes and regulations. As for another significance it had was technological as the economy had diversified, with growth in cities and industries beyond agriculture. The transformation of the Southern economy caused a surge in national GDP (Gross Domestic Product) share and population growth to in-migration. It also resulted in low taxes and affordable housing. These may all sound like positive outcomes but this also caused a weak social safety net that left workers vulnerable. I feel this event is important seeming as it did have a lot of positives but it is important to know as there was also other sides that weren't so positive about this event.

I chose this event due its social significance as the outcome of this was that it heightened white supremacy as this suppressed the rights and freedoms of African Americans. Another key significance this event had was economic as a outcome of this was the rise of sharecropping. Sharecropping is just as it says in the name, sharing crops. Sharecropping was a issue as once you got into that you would have to keep working and working which would cause you to get into more and more debt, as if a never ending cycle you could get out of seeming as you'd constantly be in debt and you couldn't escape..not even your own family as it passes on to the family. I feel this event is important to know and remember as it is a important event that occurred in history as we shall gain knowledge on it.
