Hello and happy Global Read Aloud 2026! We look forward to connecting with you. When asked to tell you about your school and town, here is what our sixth graders wrote: Our town had many people in the Revolutionary War. In October the leaves become red, orange, and yellow. It's really pretty in the fall. When Halloween comes we have a parade at our school. We get a lot of snow in the winter. In the summer there are many places to fish. Our school is grades K-8 and is pretty big for 300 students. It has a big playground and a library across the street. We have some sports but the most popular sport is soccer. Many people play basketball, too. Our school has a food shed. Our town is small and has a lot of farms. We have many small stores that are great with lots of local products. In our community, we are very supportive of sports. A lot of people go skiing around here; Gunstock Mountain is a very fun attraction.

Based on the book, the students from the 1st Grade A at "Ana Lugojana" Secondary School, Bucharest, Romania, talked enthusiastically about what it means to be a true friend. The children reflected on how we find our friends, how we help each other, and how we overcome moments when we feel lonely or shy, just like little Beekle.🌍📚✨

You shouldn't believe every warning or theory you hear because it might not be real. We know the book Don't Trust Fish is not based on real facts throughout the whole story because fish cannot talk. Real fish cannot spy on people, they can't go under a tank into the ocean, a crab cannot make a sandwich, sharks eat fish and in the story the shark was working with the king fish (no king fishes in the ocean that we know of), fish don't actually go to school like we do! They cannot come out of a toilet either! There is no evidence or proof of any of this and therefore, we know it is not real!-1st grade Purple Class Community Park Princeton, NJ

During the third week of the international project Global Read Aloud, the students of class 1st A read the book "Don’t Trust Fish!", demonstrating how a captivating story can become the most effective learning tool.

Reading at an early age is not just a simple skill, but a true gateway to cognitive and emotional development. Through stories, children learn to process complex concepts, build critical thinking skills, and make natural connections between text, illustrations, and the world around them.

By analyzing the behavior and nuances of the characters, the young readers not only understood the book's message but also expanded their English vocabulary in a natural and contextualized way. The children identified and applied essential descriptive concepts:

Smart – the ability to think quickly and effectively;

Funny – expressing humor and good cheer;

Sly & Sneaky – understanding subtle behavioral nuances;

Slippery – describing adaptability and dynamism;

Tricky & Secret – stimulating curiosity and attention to detail;

Fast – agility, speed, and quick reactions to unexpected situations;

Strange – the curiosity to explore diversity, uniqueness, and unusual elements in the story;

Big – understanding size and perspective.

By connecting reading with drawing and active communication, students develop their working memory, focus, and self-expression skills.

Congratulations to the wonderful students of class 1st A! Keep exploring the world of stories with the same joy and curiosity! 🌟📚✨
