Corrigan, Eireann. The Believing Game. Scholastic, 2012.
(Pages 1-75)

The main character and narrator, Greer Cannon, is a seventeen-year-old girl who has a knack for kleptomania and using her body to get what she wants. After getting caught shoplifting yet again her family finally had enough. They decided to send her to an rehab center for troubled teens. Upon arriving Greer found that she was stripped of all privileges. I mean she was stripped of everything. She couldn’t even wear her contacts and she had to revert to her old glasses. At first, she kept to herself. Silently observing everyone she came into contact with. In one of her classes she met a boy named Addison Bradley. He was there for alcohol abuse but this bad boy was actually a very intelligent guy despite his looks.
Characters: (main/ reoccurring only)

Greer Cannon -protagonist

Addison Bradley- protagonist/ sidekick I guess

The setting of the story is not a real place so I couldn't get a real map of it but I found a map of another rehab center. https://richfieldliving.com/short-term-rehab/

Caylen Waits. They sneak him into the room after curfew and they lay in bed together talking and we discover more about her traumatizing life. One year, on thanksgiving, her cousin raised a gun and aimed it at his father who had apparently been abusing him for years. Parker, her cousin who had the gun, not only pointed the gun at his father but also at Greer who was siting in his lap. That of course was very traumatizing for her but that would be traumatizing for anyone.

Characters:
Joshua Stern- Addison's sponsor
Sophie- Addison's best friend
Hannah- Greer's friend
Wes- Addison's roommate
Jenn- Sophie's roommate

https://richfieldliving.com/short-term-rehab/

Greer Cannon is in my opinion the most interesting character, probably because she's the main character and the one we know the most about. Despite her kleptomania and the fact that she uses her body to get what she wants I see a lot of similarities between me and her. She is a round character and I know this because when she arrives at McCracken Hill she is a very quiet and insecure girl and as they story does on she kind of bursts out of her metaphorical cocoon and she becomes a more dynamic character.

Caylen Waits.

Corrigan, Eireann. The Believing Game.Scholastic Press, 2012 .

Pages 150-225

Joshua Stern set up to have Greer, Addison, Sophie, Wes, Hannah, and Jared to the cabin Sophie's family owns for a little retreat. There he got a lot closer to all the kids and then informed them that they would need to fight in the war against the militant vegan movement which was a metaphor for something. I'm not too sure what it was supposed to be a metaphor for. During their time at the cabin they discover that Hannah was previously pregnant when she originally came into the center. After Joshua told everyone about the impending war he informed them that he was very sick and he probably wouldn't live too much longer. Joshua also did a "trust exercise" kind of like Joshua did with Greer although this time he took advantage of Hannah because she thought that what she and Joshua was the same thing that he and Greer had done.

Characters:
Greer Cannon -protagonist Addison Bradley- protagonist/ sidekick I guess

Joshua Stern- Addison's sponsor

Sophie- Addison's best friend

Hannah- Greer's friend

Wes- Addison's roommate

Jenn- Sophie's roommate

Jared- Addison's close friend

The book was written in 2012 and set in modern time so there's really not much to research and really not much to say. There weren't really any influences from the time period.

Caylen Waits.

Corrigan, Eireann. The Believing Game. Scholastic Press, 2012.

Pages 226-300

In this portion of the story things get very very dark. As I mentioned int he last blog Hannah was taken advantage of by Joshua. She starts getting really sick so they go to the nearest store, because at this point they've all gotten their privileges back so leaving the facility wasn't a big deal as long as they made it back for curfew. Regardless, they went to the store and got a pregnancy test for Hannah and of course it came back positive. The three girls, Sophie, Hannah, and Greer, had a lot off suspicions about what Joshua had been telling them. Joshua had told everyone that he had cancer and required a surgery where they replace one of his organs with the organ of a pig I believe. Well Addison and Greer would take him multiple times a week to the hospital for many many weeks and Greer was growing more and more suspicious so she and Hannah and Sophie followed him to the hospital.

Characters:

Greer Cannon -protagonist

Addison Bradley- protagonist/ sidekick I guess

Joshua Stern- Addison's sponsor

Sophie- Addison's best friend

Hannah- Greer's friend

Wes- Addison's roommate

Jenn- Sophie's roommate

Jared- Addison's close friend

Caylen Waits.

Corrigan, Eireann. The Believing Game. Scholastic, 2012.

Pages 301-375

After following Joshua to the hospital the three girls discovered that Joshua is wheeled to the hospital and once he goes in and Addison and Greer have left he walks straight through the hospital and gets into a cab waiting at the other entrance. They talk to the doctor and find out the operation he claimed oh have gotten isn't even possible. They go back to the facility. One morning Addison is randomly withdrawn from the facility and he was taken home. Days go by and no one knows why. A few days later when Joshua comes back up to the facility he goes up to Greer and threatens to come between and ultimately end Addison and Greer's relationship.Sophie, Hannah, Wes, and Greer go out to confront Joshua. Jared sees the commotion and goes outside to find Joshua trying to attack Sophia and while trying to defend herself she stabs Joshua and he later dies.
Characters:

Greer Cannon -protagonist

Addison Bradley- protagonist/ sidekick I guess

Joshua Stern- Addison's sponsor

Sophie- Addison's best friend

Hannah- Greer's friend

Wes- Addison's roommate

Jenn- Sophie's roommate

Jared- Addison's close friend

I absolutely loved this book. I'm very picky with what I'll read and I was constantly entertained by the story. However, I did not like the end. I didn't like that we never found out what happened to Addison. I think that this story is such a great read and I'd recommend it to others because it's captivating from beginning to end.

Caylen Waits.
