         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nato was created in 1949 with the purpose of creating an alliance with nations to oppose&nbsp; soviet union influence . The USA and various western countries were the first states to be in NATO (Truman was president during the creation of NATO). The outcome of NATO was its eastward expansion to other states.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Warsaw pact was an alliance with communist countries(founded by Stalin). Its goal was to be a counterweight to NATO and prevent western influence. The Warsaw&nbsp; pact drew clear divisons in Europe and it eventually led to its dissolved.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The cuban missile crisis is when the Soviet union snuck in nuclear weapons into Cuba. The goal was to use the nukes to support the Cuba. When the USA figures out about the nukes they blockaded the country and got ready for an invasion. But by the end it led to negotiations between the USA and USSR led by John F Kennedy for the USA and USSR and Nikita khrushchev.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Cuban revolution did not start on a good foot. In 1953 the Cuban army defeated Castro (the revolution leader) and sent him to exile, but by 1956 Castro was able to slip back in and his revolution succeeded.&nbsp; The outcome led to a communist cuba which improved substantially and still being communists after the fall of the USSR cuban economic power was cut by 66 percent.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The War was dubbed "the bleeding wound" because of the casualties the USSR faced and its failure of there objective.&nbsp; The war happened from the USSRs push for more Islamic womans rights which angered the Afghanistan government. By the end the Afghanistan communist regime fell.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the 1950s the Egyptians needed aid to build the Aswan Damn. The Americans refused to provide aid and USSR in turn provided aid and won Egyptian support for some time.&nbsp; Buy by 1972 Egypt breaks its support of the USSR following disagreements over military aid, and then expells 21000 soviet advisers. This led to Egypt aligning with the USA.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In&nbsp;1960 Russia promised to hand China the Atom bomb prototype but then pulled out of the deal.  While also pulling out of the deal Russia removed all soviet advisers and technicians helping China. But by the end China was able to develop nukes by themselves, but it led to each communist power being at each others throats and the threat of war looming.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Communists within China belived that the communist party had been seduced into capitalist values so they set out to rid people "taking the capitalist road". They sent many people down to do hard physical labor to learn from the peasants the revolution quickly got out of hand and Mao had to send in the military to restore order in the communist party. Overall this led to more discredit to the idea of socialism and contributed to the collapse of the communist experiment.</div>]]></description>
