Ezinma was the daughter of Okonkwo, she was born from his second wife Ekwefi. In chapter five it states, "Okonkwo was specially fond of Ezinma"(p.38). To me that means she was his favorite child due to her characteristics of being a well behaved and responsible little girl.

Later, in chapters 8-9 the reader learns more about Ezinma and Ekwefi's dark and depressing past. In their tribe and culture it's a blessing for a baby to live past a certain age, surprisingly Ezinma lived to be six years old which was a blessing since the earlier babies (multiple funerals/deaths) Ekwefi had passed before the age of 3 I believe.

While reading the book Ezinma stood out to me because she seemed like the perfect child every parent wanted. She was well behaved, responsible, and acted as a very polite little girl. Also, Okonkwo mentions how he wishes Ezinma was a boy, because she could be one of the best young males out of the tribe rather than any of the other tribe men's children and Okonkwo's other children.
