These colorful marine creatures are found in the tropical waters of the Philippines and other regions in the <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_Triangle">Coral Triangle</a>, known for their rich marine biodiversity. <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://animalia.bio/ardeadoris-egretta"><em>Ardeodoris egretta</em></a> is characterized by its striking appearance, which includes a vibrant coloration of blue or purple with contrasting patterns. Kelaart described the nudibranch's appearance, egg mass appearance, and the behavior of a pair while laying eggs in an aquarium. It is easily recognizable by its cream-colored body adorned with patches of slightly elevated black papillae, along with black rhinophores and gills. Growing up to 70 mm in length, <em>Jorunna funebris</em> inhabits a variety of marine environments, from silty substrates under piers to more exposed reef areas. It preys exclusively on sponges of the genus <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_barrel_sponge"><strong>Xestospongia</strong></a>, which closely aligns its distribution with that of its prey. <br><br><strong>TRIVIA:</strong> </p><p><em>Jorunna funebris</em>, gets its name from the black and white coloration.          <description><![CDATA[<p>The Aglajidae are all carnivorous hunters, and species of <em>Philinopsis</em> are usually found burrowing in sand or sandy mud. There are two groups of species at present placed in the genus <em>Philinopsis</em>. The "typical" group, represented by <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://www.seaslugforum.net/philcyan.htm"><em>Philinopsis cyanea</em></a>, have a large partially eversible buccal bulb which is used to catch the bubble shells and other opisthobranchs which are their prey. <em>Philinopsis gardineri</em> represents the second "atypical" group which have a long muscular, tubular buccal bulb. We have no information on how this second group feed but it is possible that they use the buccal bulb as a long eversible tube which can catch prey (worms?) in narrow burrows or crevices. Bergh informally suggested the name <em>"Boridium"</em> for the group with the tubular buccal bulb, but as he wasn't sure whether his anatomy was correct or not he never formally introduced the name. Species with this foregut are usually quite easy to identify in the living animal as the folds of the tube form a rounded central crest on the head which can be seen on the photo alongside. It reminds me of the front of a jumbo jet. Other species with this type of buccal bulb include <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://www.seaslugforum.net/philpils.htm"><em>Philinopsis pilsbryi</em></a> and <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://www.seaslugforum.net/phillin.htm"><em>Philinopsis lineolata</em></a>.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>TRIVIA:</strong></p><p>This sea slug is a <mark>hermaphrodite</mark> (a sexually reproducing organism that produces both male and female gametes); having encountered each other, two individuals simultaneously transfer sperm to each other. The egg masses contain 5,000 to 70,000 eggs in strands, clumped together to form a balloon-shaped mass which is anchored to the substrate by a mucus filament.
