1. Yes. For example, more developed cities in China such as Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou have sound economic systems, so they can attract good teachers to teach them. As people are richer, they can afford higher education fees and have access to better education. However, in poorer regions, poverty makes it harder to access resources such as television and laptop.
2. The reason why schooling contributes to inequality because in specialised settings, they have better teachers and more resources. Also, schools operate on a meritocratic basis, where children achieve their status according to their merits. Therefore, a common phenomenon is that students of higher status are allocated into one class.
3. The education system rewards individual efforts and is competitive, but competition is based on the grounds of equal opportunity. In other words, everyone, regardless of social class, race/ethnicity and gender start at the same point in the education system.
4.According to functionalists, social inequality is inevitable because incentive systems are required to motivate and reward the best-qualified people for occupying the most important positions within a social system. However, stability is also important because functionalists assume that that all social groups share the same values and interests to avoid conflict.

Members of the upper and middle class have more cultural capital than do families of lower-class status. As a result, the educational system maintains a cycle in which the dominant culture's values are rewarded and thus it causes inequality.

3. Functionalist put the right people into appropriate jobs through education in order to maintain a stable society that everyone perform their function and the equality of opportunity can allow everyone to have the same level of education and find those who are talented for particular workplace role.

4. They prefer to have conflict levels low so that the society can be stable by following orders and norms instead of it being out of control.

5.

1.Yes, there is a hierarchy between education institutions. For example, in Hong Kong, there is a official ranking of school called "Banding", where it follows a number after the Banding. It is divided into 3 bandings, band 1, 2 and 3. And the number reflects the quality of education of the schools, where band 1 schools have the best quality of education and band 3 have the opposite, which people would generally define schools with lower number of banding are 'good' and schools with higher number of banding are 'bad'.
2. Yes, formal education contributes to greater inequality. As like mentioned above, schools are commonly divided into different levels based on the reputations and the quality of education. Yet the conditions of entrying 'good' school with better education would not only depends on the students' individual performance or capability, where in most of the cases, better or prestigious schools require more tuition fees. This would polarize the gap between the wealth and the poor as the levels and opportunities of education are not provided to all individuals equally regardless of their social classes and statues.
3. Functionalists emphasise the equality of opportunities as they believe people pay attention to the quality of opportunities over the quality of outcome. In other words, if you want to work hard, you can work hard and achieve whatever you want to achieve. If you don't want to work hard, you don't have to work hard and achieve what you want to achieve and you won't do as well in education. But regardless of whether or not you do well or not you have the opportunity to do the best and become the best that you can be and that's what the concept of equality of opportunity is.
4. The reason of having the conflict level low according to functionalists is to maintain the stability and order of the society, as every individuals within the society should have worked together for the greater good where there should be no dyfunctions and all conflicts should be avoided to stabilize the society, which could build up social cohesion and as such education performs a role ofstrengthening social solidarity, where the society has a collective identity.
5. According to the functionalists, the purpose of education is to pass on values and norms. The norms and values taught in the education system help people integrate in society and how people operate and function within society to help people to operate within society.
Moreover, education also sorts people into appropriate jobs and appropriate places of work, where the work that you do and depending on how good of the work that you do and what you would specialize in, allocates you into the appropriate career path or appropriate job or trade that you ought to be in the thing that you are best at doing.

5. Functionalists believe society works like a human body, it accepts the eductaion is a mechanism that has a central structural role in determining the next generation's future, and maintains an unequal society. It is necessary for people to be allowed to move up or down the occupational social structure. This makes that important social positions are filled by those who are more qualified; meritocracy believed to be earned through individual merit of educational qualifications.
