How do these two pieces of literature create similar ideas about human nature? What can we learn about human nature throughout these two stories?

In "The Lottery", human nature is depicted as cruel and inhumane. Many of the traditions in society are unfair and ruin the lives of others. The black box is also significant to this since it's a tradition to society that ruins everyone's lives. Someone dies and the rest have to mourn since they have no control of the tradition.

In the clip of "The Hunger Games", it shows yet another depiction of an unfair society. In this book, everyone in the capital of Panem is automatically required to tribute to the annual hunger games. The main character's sister is called up and she volunteers as a tribute to save her sister from possible death. This depicts society as cruel as well. The fact that they have to fight for their lives and their district is crazy

Both have the same depiction of society. It's unfair and no justice is to be found for those who need it. One story makes your fate quick, while the other story has an unknown fate for the pair in all of the districts. Both of the stories have insane, but accurate depictions of the way society works. There's little to no justice for anything.
