It’s hard to start out a letter to you sometimes. I know we treat a lot of our letters to each other like a competition and in some ways it is but scattered through our catty quips and casually tossed about insults there is a real golden truth, a truth that I hope everyone gets to experience at least once in their life which is that soulmates exist. Now before you go off calling me yaoi Jesus and throwing insults at my head to deflect from the fact that you can’t take a compliment, let me explain.

A soulmate is someone that makes you feel safe, and complete. The other half of a piece of you that you didn’t know you were missing. That doesn’t mean romantic, as we are very not romantical. But I still call you my soulmate, the other half that lit a fire in me that I thought had burned out so long ago. You brought back that passion and fire just by being yourself, you didn’t have to be grand or give me things, you didn’t have to talk to me all the time or show me off. You were just there, and your presence was enough, you were and are enough.

I know you’re going to scoff at this, I know you’re going to call me a fruit or a fag, I know that you’re probably gonna text me and tell me you didn’t cry at my words and you won this year just like you do every year, and that’s ok, because it’s you, and it means that you have seen this and know that you are loved.

You don’t need to be loved by 100 people, you have the people who showed up and who held out their arms and said we’re here for you as you are; weather that’s sad, tired, angry, overwhelmed or happy and joyful. The people here love Kieran for Kieran, not for Kieran’s art, or when Kieran draws them free things, but because Kieran IS Kieran. The same person who would ruin their time zone for a collab with them, the same person who would listen to everyone’s problems before even mentioning their own, Kieran who does work for free and help out their friends whenever they are able. The same person who has given so much with so little in return, and I know you say you don’t expect return because you’re used to disappointment so I hope that I’ve been put in your life to help prove that the world doesn’t always disappoint you.

I’m sorry we don’t live closer, and I know I don’t owe you that apology but I wanted to say it. I know a lot of people fill your life with empty promises and broken dreams. I don’t want to be one of those people. When I say that I’m going to find my way over there if it’s the last thing I do, I mean it. The fact that life has dealt us both such shitty cards means that i think we have to meet to heal the world. I want to be able to tell you all of this in person and not just be another empty promise on the screen in our digital age. And somehow, someway I will, I’m still working on it, but I will.

Kieran you said in my universe that in every timeline we’d find each other and I agree, I’m sure our two souls have lived 1000 lives together and I’m honestly hoping that will live through 1000 more, because I can’t imagine a world without your soul in it.

You may think you are insignificant and small, and maybe to the universe you are but to me? You are larger than life itself, you are someone who gets handed a shit card and carries forward despite what people may say. A world without your light, even if you can’t see it, a world without you would be an incredibly dark place.

This last year has once again shown us that we cannot catch a break. Seriously, every year it seems like I have some new bullshit to write about when it comes to the trials we’ve faced together. Maybe in another life we really were slightly homoerotic Greek soldiers because the way we fight back to back is something that is hard to learn. We’ve survived crazy exes, rumor mills, general depression and anxiety, things that I seriously wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. But something that I think deserves recognition is the way we support each other, if I can’t carry on, you throw me over your shoulder and barrel forward and those times where your unshakeableness wavers I’m there to wrap my arm around you and carry you. We work and grow from mutual love and support for each other and our goals. That is a rare sight especially in the community we reside within.

Now while I could wax poetic about how cool and awesome we are as a duo I want to bring the focus back to you Kieran. I want to focus on the reason all that cool stuff exists, and it’s because you’ve stayed. You’ve fought through every demon and brainworm and stayed here. I know there are nights where you’ve laid your head down and wished you wouldn’t wake up, I know that your soul is heavy and burdened with exhaustion, just trying to to survive this day to day trek we call life. That is a battle many know but few understand and while I may not know the extent of your battle I know that you have survived and you choose to survive every single day.

We both tend to struggle in silence, even when we know the other is right there because why waste time burdening someone else? Right? But those times, in the quiet hours when we’ve just sat in a vc working, or watching a show are the times I’ve found true and honest peace and I hope you have too. (Except for JJK S2 we crashed out BAD)

You deserve so much Kiki, and I always strive to make sure you know that you are deserving of other’s time, energy, and affection, and I will continue to do so until the day my heart gives out. I reserve a special spot in my heart that is meant for you and you alone because we always walk together, we find our beach among the battles, even as we’re being torn apart, we find peace. I hope we’ll continue to do that together for a very long long long time.

Keep pushing forward and know as long as you keep pushing I’ll be right beside you smiling, even if I can’t always be there in person I will make sure that your story is penned in the sky for everyone to see, I will be your loudest cheerleader, your biggest fan and constantly be shaking my metaphorical pompoms for each new step you take. Keep improving, keep growing and please never forget that you are not and will not walk alone. I never want to experience this world without you in it. And in every universe I hope our souls find each other like they have before.
