Engagement Strategies:

• GG Engage program, supported by Commonwealth Bank and Australian Schools Plus - look out for how it can help you

• Monday Breakfast Club at school, then students come on over to esports to engage and support each other

• Seniors lead junior programs and are the managers / coaches

• Scholastic esports: Group based classes like reading or maths groups in primary school. We work with small groups of students throughout the lesson, while others play games and answer our "Ideas Factory" survey.

• Wellbeing focussed program - work with external companies such as GameAware and Valor Esports Academy to keep up engagement and provide a consistent message to students.

Tertiary academic studies in esports. Students complete four core esports units and four units of study in a chosen field of interest from Information Technologies, Business, and Creative Industries.

Courses commence in January and July each year with application completed through QTAC or directly through QUT.

Students are actively engaged in tertiary-level content covering the Esports Ecosystem, gaming Cultures, Consumerism, and Contemporary Concepts. Students complete a variety of research studies, assessment types and techniques which foster real-world aspects of the esports industry.

At Silverton Primary School, we focus a lot on digital safety, effective communication and teamwork skills in our e-sports program. We run a 1-hour e-sports program every Friday. The students that attend the program get in through 'try-outs' for specific games such as: Just Dance, Rocket League, Mario Kart and others. On top of tying digital wellbeing, our kids also train with an 'athlete mindset' in their respective games. They will train each week and participate in both internal and external tournaments. Due to the severe lack of e-sports tournaments catered to grade 5 and 6 students, we have also begun to host our own since 2022. We hope that our tournaments can show schools that there is a place for e-sports within the curriculum.

Engagement Strategies:

We facilitate a safe and supportive environment for students to share in their passion and learn from one another. Students naturally support each other through sharing tips, tricks and advice - with those more knowledgeable organically developing into leaders. Our digital safety curriculum includes engaging with an online Kids Helpline session in relation to apps and games. On top of that, students also complete modules through eSmart's Digital Licence+ hub. When tournaments are over, students assist with hosting try-out sessions and train new recruits. They also facilitate lunch time clubs and assist with set up and pack up of the Nintendo Switch console.
