This is an app (created for/by Apple) for macOS and iOS (MacBook, iPhone, iPad) that allows its users to edit audio files and create and share music or podcasts. 

This app is user friendly and easy to navigate. It's tools and features are simple, but effective. It has ready to use samples that are easily accessible to users. It is modern and up-to-date which makes it attractive to users.

This app doesn't necessarily do anything bad however some reviewers of the app consider it 'too easy', or 'basic', and note that it is exclusive to MAC and APPLE users. On this note, the ease of the app could be beneficial to classroom users and producers, however, if used in a classroom you would need to access it via an APPLE product. 

In a classroom the many features of this app would make for an interactive and hands on ICT lesson. You could use it various media lessons (creating podcasts, voice overs, memos) even in music (songs, electronic production, recording instruments),and as a well-rounded superior editing tool.

This app can be used within the browser without requiring download. 
Hya-Wave has effects that can be used within the browser, which do not require to be sourced or downloaded. 
It also has a simple interface, but is rather limited in terms of segmenting and sequencing multiple tracks together. 
This can be a simple to use introductory tool for classroom use.

This is a simple audio editing app that does not require a download. 

The app is really simple so it is easy to use. You can also add sounds effects without the need for additional downloads.

A down side to the app is the confusing design around making a new recording. It does not easily allow a new recording (you have to save your recording and then essential record over the top for a new recording). Also, it's simple design means that more complex functions are not available. 

We think that this would be good to use as an introductory platform for audio editing, both for primary and secondary classrooms. For secondary, there are many uses for many activities, themes or assignments.

Positives-
- Easy to understand user interface
- Easily accessible for free in browser
- No need to download

Negatives
- Very few effects available
- No track layering
- Audio files need to be uploaded in order to edit them (this is a lengthy process for anything more than a small audio clip)

Probably best used to just neaten up some small audio tracks. Anything more complex would have to be done through a more sophisticated application.

Free Music Archive is a creative commons website designed to be a repository for free music and provide a curated platform for the music to be distributed. The music on this website has been reviewed and cleared for use by the curators of the website and the artists who create the content clear it for certain uses that they describe on their pages. 

Free Music Archive has a wide selection of music encompassing many genres that are suitable for many purposes. They also provide clear information for the use of the music as to what is acceptable and what is not. 

As far as use in the classroom is concerned some of the music has explicit lyrics and could be offensive so use of the music should be restricted depending on the age of the students. For younger students it would most likely be a resource for the teacher to use during activities and classes.

One of the big positives with Garage Band is that it is easy to use, even for people who are not great with technology. It is also free, which is another positive. 

One negative could be that it is accessible only to users of Apple products, and therefore other platforms may be more popular. 

I would definitely use Garage Band in the classroom, allowing students to explore the different effects and edits that they can add to audio tracks. "Jack of all trades"

Garage Band is a fantastic audio editing tool. Not only allows editing for the purpose of fixing audio but it also has a vast array music files that can be mixed and matched, edited to create the perfect music score to accompany your voice.

As Garage Band is an Apple created program it is of a high standard and is relatively user friendly. With very little time playing around with the app, users will find that they very quickly become well versed with its tools.

An application that used to be open source, but with recent versions, and updates has become a product with a free demo.

While mainly made for music, voice files can be imported into the application and be manipulated.

As well as all of the effects that can be added and used, FL studios allows files to be exported into various files, including .FLAC, and .OGG.

The main problem with it is that it's definitely not user friendly, and difficult to use at times. Another being that the trial/demo version allows you to only export an edited file once, meaning that once you finished editing a piece, you need to be sure.

I liked that it was just a click-and-go type set up. I also liked how easy it was to then save and download the recording. The obvious disadvantage of this program is that in its simplicity, it does not offer many editing choices.

It is less refined than apps such as audacity, however I think the simplicity outweighs the fact that it does less.

It would be an amazing introduction to electronic sound production for students in a primary school (and apparently up to university) setting as it is fun and informative.

While its main use is for creating midi tracks, it also allows for simple audio recording editing and comes with many tools and effects.

While a great free software for midi creation with a lot of user made samples, effects, tools etc. it can be quite difficult to understand and hard to initially begin working with.

When it comes to recording audio on a free software I think you should most likely stick to Audacity as it is overall easier and more versatile as an audio recorder. Garage band is an audio editing app that is pretty easy to use. One promising feature is its simplicity, although it can be difficult figuring out how to import files (especially for less technology inclined people such as myself.
