Violet thought she would be taken away and sent back to her family but she was not sent. Violet wondered if they would let her go to Nashville with them and they did. When they got to the train station in Washington the suffragists had ordered a train car. A train car is very expensive so only rich people can buy it. Since  Alice Paul was not there, there was still more space for  Violet and Myrtle so they got on with the rest of the people. When they were waiting for the train to start to leave the attendant saw Myrtle and told them that she could not stay on the train and that she had to board the other one that was also going to leave because she was colored  Mr. Martin stood up and said that she could not go because she was a kid and needed help. The attendant said that her own kind will help her and that she has to go. Martin was about to fight him when he said that the police could send him to jail because he was disobeying the law so Martin sat back down Myrtle stood up and left.
