This map is an appropriate representation since it covers the topic of major aquatic biomes around the world and the effects of heat stress that leads to coral bleaching. I chose this image because coral reefs are very essential to humans and marine ecosystems, protecting coastlines from devastating tropical storms and providing habitats for a variety of marine organisms.

2018.

This graph is an appropriate representation since it covers the topic of global annual population growth rate. I chose this image since it is interesting to be able to visualize how the growth rate of the human population is following a decreasing trend. Through stewardship, I believe that the decreasing population growth rate can be assisted through education of women and access to contraceptive technologies so that the stresses of an unsustainable population will not become a problem in the future.

Roser, M., Ritchie, H., & Ortiz-Ospina, E. 2013.

This photograph that I took is an appropriate representation as it covers the topic of national forests, with this one being Inyo National Forest. I chose this image because it emphasizes the benefits of having federally protected forested lands and the opportunities it provides for enjoyment. Through stewardship, I believe that we can maintain these forested lands through federal protection so that they may be preserved for future generations to experience.

This infographic is an appropriate representation since it refers to the actions that need to be taken in order for renewable energy to be implemented. I chose this infographic because it includes tips on how renewable energy can be used to power the majority of electrical uses in the future. Through stewardship, I believe that using alternative energy sources such as wind and solar are important, but also important is the efficiency of energy storage and use.

2013.

This photograph that I took appropriately represents this unit as it covers the topic of air pollution. I chose this photograph because in Houston and many other major cities, cars are one the most significant sources of air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxides, and ozone. Through stewardship, I believe that we can continue to use motorized vehicles, but more efficiently through public transportation methods and even push for more energy efficient engines.

This cartoon appropriately represents this unit as it refers to the tremendous amounts of water pollution that we release into the ocean. I chose this cartoon because it captures how many people perceive the issue of pollution as insignificant. Through stewardship, I believe that we can continue our daily lives, but with a few changes, such as using reusable products and also recycling plastic waste in order to avoid polluting the oceans with tons of non-degradable plastic.

Pett, J. 2018.

This cartoon appropriately represents this unit as it covers the topic of climate change through the severe storms that occur as a result of global warming. I chose this cartoon because it refers to Hurricane Harvey, which impacted Texas back in 2017 and directly affected me and many others in Houston due to the high flood waters. Through stewardship, I believe that we can make a difference in the global goal of reducing global warming by increasing our use of alternative energy resources.

Chappatte, P. 2017.

This infographic is an appropriate representation for this unit since it covers the unit of global water resources and use. I chose this image because it emphasizes the amount of water stress that is faced by countries around the globe, with many countries projected to lack access to freshwater sources by 2040. Through stewardship, I believe that our freshwater use can be reduced, especially in the irrigation sector through more efficient uses, such as drip irrigation, scheduling, compost and mulch, and also capturing and storing water.

2018.
