How does anxiety happen?

Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear about what’s to come. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous. It’s normal to feel anxious about moving to a new place, starting a new job, or taking a test. This type of anxiety is unpleasant, but it may motivate you to work harder and to do a better job. Ordinary anxiety is a feeling that comes and goes, but does not interfere with your everyday life.

When you have a disorder it is hard to control yourself, and might take your anger out on someone you love. Some cases of anxiety are very mild and will go away but if it is bad enough you will have to go through a series of medical attention like therapy. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who treat the mentally ill. Psychiatrists may prescribe medication to reduce the symptoms of some mental disorders. Some medications are very effective. They allow patients to resume normal lives. During therapy, patients talk about their feelings and behaviors with a therapist. Therapists include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors. Therapists help people learn to control the symptoms of their mental disorder. The medication to cure OCD is Antidepressants. Sometimes therapy dogs can help people to bring their heart rate down, just by being with them. They like feeling the fur and feeling the warmth, it makes them much calmer.

Stress is your body’s reaction to a trigger, and is generally a short-term experience. Stress can be positive or negative. When stress kicks in you will realize it. People who have stress have poor concentration, and impaired ability to do the things you normally do, it’s negative. Stress is a response to a threat in any given situation.

Anxiety, on the other hand, is a mental health disorder that can be triggered by stress. Anxiety doesn’t fade into the distance once the threat is mediated. Anxiety hangs around for the long haul, and can cause significant impairment in social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning.

In conclusion they are not the same.

Yes! There is Anxiety Disorder, Psychotic Disorder, Mood Disorder, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, and many more. They are all very different.

Anxiety disorder is when you feel unsafe in very safe situations. You may feel helpless, dizzy, and confused for no reason at all. In some other cases it could simply just be for being in like a big crowd or being up high.

Psychotic Disorder is when you confuse real life with fantasy. You may see or hear things that are not there. You may believe that the noises are someone else. Schizophrenia is an example of a psychotic disorder.

Mood Disorder people with mood disorders suffer from depression (extreme sadness) or mania (extreme excitement).
Has Covid affected anxiety in any particular way?

Yes, covid has impacted so many lives with this virus. They have lost loved ones, had to wear masks, and social distancing. But how does this affect anxiety you may ask? Well I could go on and on about what covid has done with anxiety, but I will only tell you a couple things. First, in march lockdown had begun, and everyone was so nervous and did not want to leave the house. Doctors and nurses, police, and delivery drivers, they had to risk their lives to make ours great. These are essential workers. They did all they can to help you. Anxiety was hit hard by covid. We could not see loved ones either ever again, or for a couple months. No adults wanted their kids to have playdates because their was still covid. But now we have to vaccine (well most of us 😡.) SO now everything has dialed down a bit and everything is almost back to normal.
