And I was just a little kid, so I didn't really understand why, but as I got older, I realized we had drug addiction in my family, including later cocaine addiction.

This is a very serious issue and effect children In the united states and in other countries around the world. 
if you have children why are you doing drugs? whats the point of having kids if you are just going to leave them someday.

The NIH (National Institute of Health) states that by regulation they have put substances into the medications that are supposed to reverse the effects of the Addictive materials in the Medications. 

How are People still getting addicted if they are putting other things into the Medication to make it not addictive?

The best way to prevent drugs is just to talk about it with your family and children setup a  safe place where they can talk about whats wrong instead of trusting drugs instead. 

If you have a family member that is on Drugs and needs help one of the strongest types of help is family help you can slowly ease them off the drugs keeping a good eye on them to see how and when they are doing the drugs to try and fix the issues.

There are Drugs called "Detox" that take out the pain and help the withdrawal go smoothly instead of getting really sick and possibly dying from the withdrawal which happens more than you would think.

Marijuana is usually grown in the U.S In small private farms hidden from the outside so that the government can't see it and bust you for drugs.

Other drugs are less common as starter drugs because they are more expensive and have a Higher rate of death and a lower rate of addiction than when compared to marijuana.
