         <description><![CDATA[<p>This post highlights a program called the Mother Cabrini Counseling Program (MCC), which aims to bring mental health well-being to individuals at the organization Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. These services are available to those who live in this community or around NYC. The services are provided in bilingual Chinese/English and Spanish/English. Some of the concerns they list that can be addressed include abuse, loss, immigration trauma, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, and many other concerns. Even though they have limited slots, it is free of charge. </p>]]></description>

         <title>From Me to You - &amp; Back</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>My name is Magaly. I'm currently in my senior year of college and will be continuing my education at Hunter College to pursue a master’s degree in social work. My passion is rooted in working with immigrant students in public schools, supporting, guiding, and standing beside them in systems that often fail to see them fully.</p><p><br></p><p>This project comes from a deeply personal place. I’ve experienced firsthand what it feels like to be cut off from vital resources, due to circumstances that were out of my control, and that impacted not just me but those closest to me. That lack of access shaped me, but it also made me realize how powerful it is when we create what <em>we</em> need.</p><p><br></p><p>I chose to focus on how social media can be used to support mental health, because it’s something we <em>can</em> control. It’s a tool that allows us to shift the narrative, from the micro, in our everyday actions and messages, to the uphill, in ways that resist the restrictions placed on us by larger systems. We don’t have to wait for institutions to catch up, we can support each other now, in real time, in ways that are culturally grounded and community-based.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
