Assalamualaikum. My name is Akmal Naeim and this week i want to talk about manners towards teachers and Al-Quran. One of the most important values in the journey of learning is showing respect to teachers. A simple but meaningful way of doing so is by not walking in front of them without a genuine reason. Such an act reflects humility and appreciation towards the person who guides us with knowledge and wisdom. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are a clear example of this. They were extremely careful in his presence, lowering their voices and observing their manners. Allah even reminded the believers in Surah al-Hujurat, verse 2, not to raise their voices above the Prophet’s voice, as a sign of respect and discipline. From this, we learn that maintaining good manners with teachers is part of valuing the knowledge they pass down. When respect is upheld, the lessons gained are more impactful and bring blessings. Students today can follow this example by treating their teachers with the same level of honor and care. Next, The Qur’an is the word of Allah, revealed as guidance for mankind. One of the key etiquettes in approaching it is to recite with proper tajwid and reflection. Tajwid ensures that every letter is pronounced correctly and beautifully, as it was revealed, while reflection allows the heart and mind to absorb its meanings. Allah commands in Surah al-Muzzammil, verse 4: “…And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation.” This verse reminds believers not to rush through the Qur’an but to read it calmly, carefully, and with focus. The purpose is not only to perfect the sound but also to let the message touch the soul. When recitation is done with tajwid and reflection, the Qur’an becomes more than just words on a page. It becomes a source of peace, guidance, and strength. A person who reads with understanding is more likely to practice what is read and carry its wisdom into daily life. Therefore, every Muslim should strive to recite the Qur’an properly, with both respect for its language and sincerity in their hearts. In conclusion, I had learned some manners towards teachers and our divine book.

Assalamualaikum and hi! For week 2, the topic that we had discussed is the Pillars of Islam: Hadith Jibril.

First of all, the Hadith of Jibril is a fundamental narration that summarizes the essence of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. It reminds us that strengthening our bond with Allah through worship and maintaining good relations with others are both essential. Moreover, it highlights the importance of proper etiquette in seeking knowledge by respecting teachers, asking questions without hesitation, and referring to scholars in religious matters. By practicing the lessons from this hadith, we can refine our faith and strive to become true servants of Allah in this world and the Hereafter.

In Week 3, we learned about the Pillars of Iman (faith) which were explained in the Hadith of Jibril. These pillars form the foundation of a Muslim’s belief and guide how we view life, the unseen, and our relationship with Allah.

The six pillars are:

Belief in Allah – recognizing that Allah is One, without partners, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.

Belief in Malaikah (angels) – spiritual beings created by Allah who carry out His commands such as recording deeds, delivering revelations, and praising Him.

Belief in Kutub (revealed books) – the divine scriptures sent to prophets: the Tawrat, Zabur, Injil, and the final revelation, the Qur’an.

Belief in Rusul (messengers) – chosen individuals who spread Allah’s message and guide humanity.

Belief in the Last Day (Akhirah) – the Day of Judgment where everyone will be held accountable for their deeds.

Belief in Qada’ and Qadar (divine destiny) – accepting that everything, whether good or bad, happens by Allah’s knowledge and wisdom.

Learning about these pillars reminds us that faith is not only about belief but also about trusting Allah, obeying His commands, and living with responsibility. It strengthens our connection with the Qur’an, increases our awareness of the unseen world, and encourages us to live with accountability for the Hereafter.

By holding firmly to these six pillars, we can build a strong foundation of iman and become better Muslims, always striving to please Allah in everything we do.

In Week 4, we continued our discussion on the Pillars of Iman, focusing on belief in the messengers (Rasul and Anbiya’), the Hereafter, and Qada’ & Qadar. These three pillars complete the six essential articles of faith that every Muslim must hold firmly.

1. Belief in Rasul and Anbiya’
All prophets were chosen by Allah to deliver the same core message: Tawhid—the worship of Allah alone without partners. They were trustworthy, virtuous, and conveyed Allah’s message completely. Following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is part of obeying Allah, as he is the final messenger sent to all mankind. The prophets also serve as role models in gratitude, patience, humility, kindness, and moderation, showing us how to live a righteous life.

2. Belief in the Hereafter (Akhirah)
Faith in life after death is a key condition of Iman. We must believe that the world will end, people will be resurrected, judged, and rewarded with Paradise or punished in Hell. This belief shapes our actions, reminding us that every deed has consequences. It motivates us to hasten towards good deeds, be patient in hardship, and long for the greatest reward—seeing Allah in Jannah.

3. Belief in Qada’ and Qadar
Everything in existence happens by Allah’s knowledge, will, and decree. This includes four aspects: Allah’s perfect knowledge of all things, His recording of destiny in the Preserved Tablet, His divine will, and His creation of everything. Believing in Qada’ and Qadar gives peace of mind, teaches us humility, and strengthens our tawakkul (dependence on Allah). It helps us accept both trials and blessings with contentment, while still striving to do good.

Conclusion
By understanding and practicing these pillars—belief in the messengers, the Hereafter, and Qada’ & Qadar—we strengthen our Iman and live with sincerity, accountability, and trust in Allah’s plan. These beliefs remind us to follow the example of the prophets, prepare for the eternal life after death, and face every situation with patience and reliance on Allah.

Story of Tamim Ad-Dari and Dajjal

🌙 The Story of Tamim ad-Dari and the Dajjal

Tamim ad-Dari (RA) was a Christian from Palestine who later embraced Islam during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.

One day, he narrated an extraordinary journey to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet then gathered the companions and told them to listen, saying:
“Tamim ad-Dari has told me something that agrees with what I have already told you about the Dajjal.” (Hadith in Sahih Muslim).

Tamim was on a sea voyage with around 30 other people from the tribes of Lakhm and Judham.

Their ship was caught in the waves for a month, drifting until they reached an unknown island.

On the island, they met a strange hairy beast called Al-Jassasah (“the Spy”). It was so hairy that they could not tell its front from its back.

Al-Jassasah told them to go to a man in a monastery.

They found a huge man chained heavily, with his hands tied to his neck and his legs bound with iron chains.

He asked them questions about:

The date palms of Baysan (whether they still produced fruit).

The Lake of Tiberias (Sea of Galilee) (whether it still had water).

The Zughar spring (a spring in Syria/Palestine).

Whether the unlettered Prophet (Muhammad ﷺ) had appeared, and if the Arabs followed him.

When they answered, he said:
“Indeed, it is better for them to follow him. I am the Messiah (Al-Masih), and soon I will be permitted to leave. I will travel the earth, and there will be no town I do not enter, except for Makkah and Madinah. They are forbidden for me — every time I try to enter, angels with swords will block me.”

After Tamim told this story, the Prophet ﷺ confirmed it, saying:
“This agrees with what I have been telling you about the Dajjal.”

He then pointed with his stick towards the direction of the east and said: “Behold, he is in the east, he is in the east…”

📌 Key Lessons

The Dajjal is real – His existence is confirmed by both revelation and eyewitness testimony (Tamim ad-Dari’s story).

Signs of the Last Hour – The story reminds Muslims of the great trials before Qiyamah.

Truthfulness of the Prophet ﷺ – Tamim’s independent experience confirmed what the Prophet had already informed about Dajjal.

Faith and Protection – Only those firm in faith will be safe from Dajjal’s deception.

Makkah and Madinah’s special protection – They are guarded by angels, highlighting their sacred status.

Conclusion

The story of Tamim ad-Dari’s encounter with the Dajjal is a powerful reminder of the reality of the unseen and the truth of the Prophet’s message. It shows that the trials of the Dajjal are inevitable, and Muslims must prepare themselves by strengthening their iman, holding firmly to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and seeking Allah’s protection.

Understanding Adab

Assalamualaikum and hi. Today, the topic is about adab. Adab comes from the Arabic word أدب, which means to refine, educate, and discipline. It refers to good manners, morals, and proper actions. Adab is not only a quality but also something we can learn and practice in our daily lives.

Adab is related to akhlaq, but they are different. Akhlaq is about moral philosophy, the reason why an action is right or wrong, while adab is the actual practice of those morals. In short, akhlaq is the “why” and adab is the “how.”

The Qur’an shows us the example of Prophet Ibrahim A.S. with his father in Surah Maryam (19:41–50). Even though his father worshipped idols, Ibrahim spoke with respect, always saying “O my father.” He never insulted or used harsh words, but explained the truth with wisdom and kindness. When his father threatened to stone him, Ibrahim still replied with peace and promised to pray for him. In return, Allah blessed him with righteous children, Ishaq and Ya‘qub.

From this lesson, I learned that adab is more than just manners—it reflects our faith and character. It teaches us to be humble, patient, and respectful, especially to our parents. This makes me want to improve myself and practice adab more sincerely in daily life.

I am grateful for the opportunity to join the usrah sessions. They provided a safe and supportive space to learn about Islam, strengthen my understanding, and reflect on my personal growth. I truly appreciated the discussions, as they were not only informative but also practical, connecting Islamic teachings to our daily lives. The sharing among members also helped me gain new perspectives. I hope that future usrah sessions will continue to be engaging and interactive. It would be wonderful to have more group activities, real-life case studies, and open discussions so that everyone can participate more actively. I also wish that we can invite guest speakers or have collaborative projects to make the sessions more diverse and enriching. Through this usrah, I realized that Islam is not just about knowledge but also about practice and character. The values of patience, respect, and adab reminded me of the importance of living Islam sincerely in my daily life. I also reflected on how much I need to improve my relationship with Allah and with people around me. For myself, I want to be more consistent in applying what I have learned in usrah. This includes improving my manners (adab), increasing my ibadah, and being more disciplined with time. For the usrah as a group, one possible improvement is to make the sessions more structured by having clear themes each week and encouraging everyone to contribute.

Salah with khushu means performing prayer with full humility, concentration, and sincerity before Allah. It is an essential quality that gives life and meaning to salah. The following points explain salah with khushu in more detail:

1. Presence of the heart and mind

Khushu begins when the worshipper is fully aware that they are standing before Allah. The heart and mind are focused on the prayer, not on worldly thoughts or distractions.

2. Understanding the recitation

Praying with khushu includes understanding the meanings of the words recited, such as Surah al-Fatihah and other supplications, which helps strengthen attentiveness and reflection during salah.

3. Humility and submission to Allah

Khushu reflects a deep sense of humility, recognizing one’s dependence on Allah. This is shown through calm movements, lowered gaze, and respectful behavior throughout the prayer.

4. Calmness and tranquility in actions

Salah with khushu is performed slowly and properly, without rushing. Each posture—standing, bowing (ruku‘), and prostration (sujud)—is done with peace and composure.

5. Sincerity of intention (ikhlas)

The prayer is performed solely for the sake of Allah, not for showing off or fulfilling a routine. A sincere intention enhances concentration and spiritual connection.

6. Impact on character and behavior

Salah with khushu influences a person’s daily life by increasing self-discipline, strengthening faith, and preventing immoral and harmful actions, as the prayer nurtures constant awareness of Allah.

Fasting and its virtues hold a special place in Islam as a powerful act of worship that nurtures both spiritual and moral growth. Its virtues can be explained through the following points:

1. Strengthens taqwa (God-consciousness)

Fasting trains a person to control desires and remain mindful of Allah at all times, even when no one is watching.

2. Purifies the soul and builds self-discipline

By abstaining from food, drink, and sinful behavior, fasting cleanses the heart and develops patience, self-restraint, and strong character.

3. Increases closeness to Allah

Fasting is a sincere act of worship done solely for Allah, and its reward is special and immense, as only Allah knows its true value.

4. Encourages empathy and compassion

Experiencing hunger and thirst helps Muslims understand the struggles of the poor, increasing gratitude and motivating charity and kindness.

5. Brings forgiveness and spiritual reward

Fasting, especially in Ramadan, is a means for forgiveness of sins and earning great rewards when observed with faith and sincerity.

6. Improves moral and social behavior

True fasting goes beyond physical restraint and includes guarding the tongue, eyes, and actions, leading to better manners and stronger social harmony.

Zakah and Sadaqah are two important forms of charity in Islam. Zakah is a compulsory act of giving and one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It requires Muslims who have enough wealth to give a fixed portion—usually 2.5% of their saved wealth each year—to specific groups of people in need, such as the poor, the needy, and those in debt. Its purpose is to purify a person’s wealth, reduce inequality, and support the welfare of the community. Sadaqah, on the other hand, is voluntary charity that Muslims can give at any time and in any form. It does not have a fixed amount and can include money, kindness, good deeds, or even simple actions like smiling or helping someone. While Zakah is an obligation, Sadaqah is an act of generosity that reflects a person’s compassion and desire to help others. Together, Zakah and Sadaqah encourage fairness, kindness, and support for those who need it most.
