It has come to an end of my semester by submitting this reflection padlet. Professor Clyde has helped us a lot in achieving this milestone. He has been an inspiration to all of us. We are very lucky to have such a knowledgeable professor. I have evaluated all the sections from the beginning of this course modules to ensure that everything is added with being left over. I successfully completed my public sector & SCM course.

Then the professor moved on to the Contract & Supplier management module. Contracts were made between the parties for a legal purpose. The 4 types of contracts were: Purchase order, Blanket purchase order, service level agreements and master service agreements.

SILEX Presentation- We submitted our slides before 9am to the professor. All our team members were dressed formally. Our group was the first group to do the presentation. My part was the SWOT & PESTLE. I had written my key points in one paper note. As our group did not have any dress rehearsals, i took more time than allocated thereby leading my group to pass the total allocated time. All my class mates liked my way of presentation. 2 groups were not able to do their presentations because of lack of time. Our group also had our Parks Canada presentation too on the same day. I was well prepared for that as i liked the topic very much and i felt it very easy to present it infront of my class. That presentation went really well, at the end of part, the whole class clapped which made me feel very happy and overwhelmed.

Also, we had a mini field trip to the innovation village - to have an first-hand dedicated space that was available for silex presentations. In module 8, i mostly learned about " Review bidding specifications and scopes of work ". I understood that requisition was a document that an internal customer completes to indicate the need for a purchase. The professor also mentioned about the specifications that were used to describe the physical, functional and performance characteristics of a good or service. There were also different types of specifications. There were also some points to consider when reviewing specifications such as use, costs, budget, users etc.

The meeting lasted for 2 hours. Module 4 comprised mainly about risk management and the case analysis. We were to to go through the " But it was only a $1000 job ". It a bit lengthy case to analyze but it was fine to understand the concepts. I learned that the Risk management was an approach of identifying and preventing any losses from occurring.

Our first day of Public Sector class was on January 10th in room B1067. We were glad to meet Prof. Clyde Walton. As the first week of class was a holiday, the professor combined both modules 1 & 2 and gave a lecture on that in class. In Module 1, our professor walked us through the course outlines like the FOL quizzez, SILEx project, the public agency presentation and about the padlet reflection. He gave a speech on public procurement, defined what public procurement is, how the money is getting collected, how goods and services are getting procured and so on. Module 2 covered the public agencies and cooperative purchasing. He defined what public agencies are gave some examples like municipal, provincial and federal. We discussed the different types of cooperative purchasing like piggybacked purchasing, pooled purchasing, consortium purchasing and formal cooperative purchasing. Also discussed the challenges and benefits of cooperative purchasing. Later all the students were made to sit in groups of 4 to discuss the presentation topic. My group selected Parks Canada, which was my suggestion. We had to include : What they do, What they buy, Who they buy from & other statistics and funding. But unfortunately, our group member was late by two minutes to submit which ended us in scoring a zero for that in-class assignment.
