Action Team Description: Family Engagement: Support and enhance children’s learning and development by engaging and

equipping the families as the first and most important teachers and their first advocates. Connect

families to early learning opportunities that support child development, school readiness, and family wellness.

Questions:
 What did the action team accomplish in 2020? Play & Learn groups, CSO and then convert to virtual, offer text message portal and sending kits. Kittitas community events - transition to drive through model. Casa Hogar using family voice to influence activities being offered in community. During pandemic, classroom dojo being offered to families and children don't have to be registered to participate in an early learning activity. Families are contacted regularly to support them with their children and family needs. Focus on whole family needs first. Families are highly represented in the direction and decisions made for what services are brought forward. Janes house: supported with getting resources and materials out to families so they could work on early learning. Difficulty in continuing with that model now that families have resumed in person services. (Adrianne) didn't close, created materials and packets children could take home to have materials they could use at home. Over 180-200 children. Including children from YWCA, food distribution and drive through system to pick up food and materials. Ball, board games, glue, crayons, books, many items shared. served 5-18. 1 of few licensed kitchen locations in the area. Meals for 7 weeks, partnered with Rotorary for children to receive new book every week. School supplies also offered. Homeless children from YWCA -

· What did the action team accomplish in 2020? Joining work of the Help Me Grow Project helped us focus on concrete to work on, such as the ASQ Developmental Assessment

o What helped? What hindered?The size of the group was very small, which was a challenge; HMG helped leverage other resources, i.e., bring in other providers/services

· What are three items (tasks, project, meetings) that you’d like to accomplish in 2021? Do some information-sharing with group about State-of-the-Community with developmental assessmesnts (the state is working on a registry for developmental assessment data); get information out on immunization status and need to stay current

o i.e., convene an action team meeting once/quarter, schedule a call with each state elected, schedule a call with mayor/city council lead, etc? Meet once a quarter and look at child health indicators, like assessment information
