#saveourchildren became something very important to the public after records of over 1,500 children have gone missing in ICE custody. Many people are slowly coming together to protest. It's unbelievable the things that have been unveiled. In my boyfriends baseball team two of his teammates tested positive for COVID, everyone was panicking rushing to get tested. It was definitely a scary thing but we weren't too worried because we know we follow precautions during games. We tested negative. We finally also went back to school, online of course and it's been a struggle getting used to this new lifestyle. It's really hard to even think back to when things were "normal" and we'd all be in a small classroom with no mask. Things have definitely changed since then.

I was finally able to see my boyfriend and his family on the 4th of July after not seeing any of them for 3 months. It was definitely a much needed reunion, it made me really happy to be back. Now that things began to open up and people weren't as scared to come out, my boyfriend finally started playing again. All of July and August I spent at games and ended up with some pretty painful sunburns and funny tan-lines.

In early June BLM protest began to rise after the death of George Floyd, protesting police brutality and racism. Most protests were peaceful but turned reckless when teargas was aimed at the crowds. Many people took advantage of this and the looting began. I was in Michigan at my mom's at the time and only heard about it through Tik-Tok and a call from my dad. Due to the reckless looting a couple of assassinations occurred very very close to where I live.

I began to pull myself onto my own feet and also made new friendships. At this point I fully returned to my connection with my religious beliefs although no masses were being held . The world was beginning to slowly heal from the virus but not completely. Many people were protesting the use of masks. It's unbelievable that people actually questioned the use of masks. To my knowledge, when I came back from my mom's this summer in July, Michigan was still in quarantine due to people not following lock-down enforcement that was put in early March.
*RELIGION

April was worse than March. I was in an even worse mental state, simple things such as brushing my hair became difficult tasks. My dad actually got laid off in late April, i'm still so grateful that we prepared for it. Around this time the virus was out of control, cases just began to rise and thousands of people were dying everyday. Many questioned Trumps choices for the country.

Friday, March 13 was my last day at school. After school my dad made sure we were stocked with enough food and other necessary materials, because he wasn't sure if he'd be laid off or not. Most other families were doing the same and most stores were drastically stripped of every product. March was also a really bad month for me myself, self-isolation basically killed my mental health and I found myself in a deep hole where no one could reach me.
*ECONOMIC

New years we welcomed 2020 with open arms. Only to later on learn about the U.S. airstrike that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who was the leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force. Trump of course only tweeted about it, and some vile threats were made towards him by many Iranians. Thinking back to it, there was a lot of memes about it going around on social media but in reality everyone was honestly panicking. I particularly remember being really scared of a war outbreak happening, not knowing what to expect or what to feel.
*DIPLOMACY/*POLITICAL

I know it seems extreme but you can never be too old for those sort of Christmas time activities. It's just overall a really fun month. Usually we go out to see the lights that people begin to put up along with the drive-in's. November is also my boyfriend's birth month so we get to celebrate that together early in the month along with our yearly anniversary later by the end.

October is always really special because we always attend the "Opportunity Knocks" Halloween party. So it's a bit of an excuse to test-run our costumes. I dressed up as Piglet while the rest of my family dressed like the other characters from Winnie the Pooh. This month in particular I remember it being really cold, it snowed a couple of inches on Halloween day but it didn't stop us from going out trick or treating. Homecoming and the football games are also around the beginning of October so that's always really fun to experience and go out to.
*SOCIAL

Although it was scary at first being in a way bigger school with a lot more students and upperclassmen it was really exciting. I began to feel a bigger sense of independence this month. I now know my way around the school a lot better and on my Junior year taking online classes, of course it's something no one expected and just weird to even think that everything was normal 12 months ago.
*INTELLECTUAL
