I also learned that there is no room for ugliness in the fine arts which is why sculpture as a fine art has the purpose of the representing an object or idea with beauty. It may also imitate living forms. In Classical Sculpture, an artwork is considered to be beautiful when there is a combination of mathematics and proportion. Proportion can be defined as the relative size of parts of a whole. Classical Sculpture also served as a foundation of present day sculpture. I also learned how to describe and interpret a sculpture by applying the elements and principles of art such as proportion and contrast.
