Waking up in the middle of the night. Being brave, and independent.

My parents say I was always very good at sleeping in my own bed and never needed them with me in order to go to sleep.

I remember waking up in the wee hours, not having an easy time sleeping, but hearing a noise that I did not recognize. I crept out of my room not turning on any lights, walked down the dark hallway to my parent's bedroom door, and stood there. I found the sound. It was one of my parents snoring.

"Mom, dad" I said, and there was no response, only snoring, so I decided to just go back to bed. I was not afraid of the dark and successfully investigated the sound. and that was enough for me.

I have gone on to break bones many more times. The first one mentioned was my lower left leg. The second was my left wrist in third grade, year 2000. The third and fourth were the very same left leg and left wrist in middle school 6th and 7th grade respectively. Years 2003 and 2004. And my most recent damage was my left femur and a couple cracked ribs during a car crash about 5 years ago in May 2020. All of these experiences have proven to myself that I can handle anything life throws at me.

Emphasis on High.

Junior year of Highschool, I was in the Early College Education Program. This allowed me to gain college credits and high school credits by taking all my classes at PCC. Although I wasn't the most popular kid in school, people knew who I was. 2008 was a great year as my parents were trusting me more and more. I had my own car, and my father went on vacation with his current girlfriend, trusting me to keep an eye on the house while he was gone. I decided this was a great time to gain some popularity by throwing a party in his house. Needless to say it went how every Highschool party goes. a couple people got laid, most everyone got drunk or stoned, and the house was a DISASTER.

I was caught the next day as I had been unknowingly and unintentionally ratted out via the parental grapevine by a mother who picked up her daughter and friends early in the morning. I worked my ass off to pay for the damages.

A quote from my father comes to mind. "90% of life's greatest lessons will be learned Monetarily"

My friends and I had a brilliant idea later that summer. We bought some dry ice from a store that sold it and made plastic bottle bombs behind our elementary school.

In our eyes we were just doing some applied chemistry and experimentation.

The law did not see through our eyes.

We were promptly arrested after a good 30 minutes of fun. This time, Community service was the teacher.

I moved out of my parents' houses as soon as I could. 2010

I needed more independence and strived to be my own man as early as possible. Soon after turning 18, I had found a roommate and moved out on my own. In the nearby small town, I met my best friend Moose who is on my couch as I type this. I would spend my off days cruising old town Sherwood with my bike or Mustang until I found someone I recognized and something to do.

I was working a lot and playing a lot. It was around this time when I decided that I enjoyed smoking lots of marijuana, and often. Good thing I was an "adult" and could pay for my own stuff. It was also around this time in which I decided I love living alone. Screw having roommates, I need my own damn space. I like my solitude.

Later that year in December my son Carter was born. He is now 7 and thriving. I Very much enjoy being a father and my son gives me a reason to be the best me I can be.

After my son was born, I began having grand mal seizures and eventually it caused my divorce, year 2023. I really was all my fault though.

I was still a chronic Toker, I smoked way too much THC and for the wrong reason. I also did not know how to manage my own stress and anxiety without it, so I was reluctant to stop. Eventually my wife decided that it was her or the THC, and due to my lack of personal control and ability to manage myself mentally I chose my substance. I was finally able to decide to quit and have been sober for a year and 4 months.

It was easy once I made the decision that I did not want to smoke anymore. I now know that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
