This quote shows how when facing the obstacle of the Cyclops, Odysseus rises to the challenge and proves himself to be a cunning and strong leader. This displays that when on his journey, Odysseus had to step up and really show who he was to overcome any and all obstacles.

Also, it is not only in big challenges or obstacles that you find who you are; even small things take strength and courage in yourself. This quote describes that we all have some secret strength within us and that if we are silent, people will not expect us to be so strong.  In Mei Mei's case, she learned that patience as a character trait is more powerful than a strong temper.
