The protagonist, Alice, wakes up in an unfamiliar place called the Preserve. She is surrounded by long centepede type creatures which are another type of species found in the Preserve. Alice has been separated from her family and navigates this alien environment where they are seen as a resource by the alien creatures. As Alice tries to make sense of her surroundings, she encounters other humans who have also escaped the other world. Together, they form a small community within the Preserve, each person dealing with the trauma and consequences of their decisions from the other world.

Middle 1.

The humans in the Preserve soon learn that the giant creatures, known as the Alpharex have a complex society. They communicate through vibrations and do not speak. The Alpharex team up with the human escapees. They provide protection, and in return, they receive the special energy produced by human emotions. Alice, worried by her previous choices, comes to understand that the Alpharex aren't evil but are simply acting to survive. Within the community tensions rise as some of the humans resist giving the aliens their aura fearing their emotional disconnection within themselves. Others, desperate for safety, embrace the connection. Alice grapples with her own conflicting emotions, torn between understanding the Alpharex's perspective and empathizing with the group.

Zara. Young, 16. Zara is fascinated by the alien species in the Preserve. And is often seen with a small notebook, jotting down observations about the Corialus and Alpharex.
Kai. 32 years old. Skeptical, Kai is one of the humans hesitant about the symbiotic relationship with the Alpharex. Tall with a shaved head and multiple tattoos that tell a story of his past. He wears a tattered, sleeveless shirt, reflecting a sense of defiance against the new reality in the Preserve.

Middle 2

As Alice goes deeper into the Alpharex society, she discovers a hidden truth. That the symbiotic relationship between the humans and Alpharex is not just about protection but also a means of preserving the memories and experiences of both species. The Alpharex too have sacrificed for survival, and Alice begins to see the similarities between their own struggles and of the Alpharex.

Simultaneously, Alice learns of a dangerous threat to the Preserve. Another alien species, the Corialus, seeks to exploit the symbiotic energy for their own purposes, putting both the humans and Alpharex at risk. The community unites to face the Corialus, setting aside internal conflicts for the sake of survival.

As the Corialus are repelled, the humans and Alpharex make a harmonious coexistence within the Preserve. Alice becomes a bridge between the two species, make a relationship based on trust and community. The community, once broken, now thrives in the alien environment together.

The story ends with a sense of hope and the realization that true symbiosis requires empathy, sacrifice, and a willingness to explore the unknown.
