Panay islands are bordered by the Sibuyan, Visayan, and Sulu seas and the Guimaras Strait which separates it from Negros.

It has an approximately triangular form.

Its western shore is bounded by a steep, almost sparsely populated mountain range. A highly inhabited, densely farmed (sugarcane, rice) plain stretches for roughly 95 miles (155 km) from the northern to the southern beaches between the range and a hilly eastern section.
