Qn.1 Do they need to learn to spell words or just need to be able to read?

Qn.2 It feels like there is a big gap between the learning goals in MK and Pri 1. Is this enough to prepare the child for Pri 1?

Qn.3 Does MK teach them to write numbers? Because I notice many Pri students are terrible at writing digits.

How do you assess the students for art and music? Are there any specific tasks they have to do or is it based on teacher's observation?

Diagnostic test on reading ability: sound/blends/syllables/words/phrases/sentences
If manpower permits, we have a pullout class to remediate weak readers. Release these readers to the main ML classes when they progresses to be good readers.
Communicative skills: Greetings/basic questions on personal needs
Penmanship training(teacher's initiative)
