Red Flag - Appeal to Authority

Definition:
The red flag - appeal to authority is commonly associated with having celebrity or "white coat" endorsements. With many of the people who see these ads on television and hear them on the radio it makes it easy for the companies to appeal to the celebrity fan base.

Connection:
In the video below, it demonstrates the APPEAL to AUTHORITY red flag as the product being advertised has been linked to diabetes and overweight in the youth that the product is intending to reach and advertise to. Celebrities have a big influence in the products they advertise and are promoting. It is hard to believe that these athletes and celebrities use these products while maintaining their perfect bodies. They get paid to say what they say and the general public who looks up to these people and follows their every move will no doubt buy any product just because someone tells them. And in the video below the company not only uses a famous basketball player as their spokesman but they also point out the fact that he like many others get paid to say good things about the products they are being paid for even though the products are not that good at all.

Red Flag - Ancient Wisdom

Definition:
Ancient Wisdom red flag is anything having to do with ancient beliefs, knowledge or any practices that may have taken place. Today ancient beliefs and practices are considered bogus and debunked by modern science. (ex. tobacco smoke enemas)

Connection:
The video below talks about the ancient practices of - tobacco smoke enemas. This ancient belief was used to cure many illnesses when in fact it was doing the complete opposite of what it was meant to do. By the 1800's it was considered a hazard and was no longer practices. It is also where the term "blowing smoke up my ass." came from.(https://listverse.com/2010/11/23/top-10-shocking-historical-beliefs-and-practices/)

Red Flag - Mystical Energy

Definition:
This red flag is based off the belief that there is energy that flows between bodies and objects that can heal and make the patient feel better when they are using these items.

Connection:
The link below is to an article about healing crystals that are supposed to heal and make your aliments disappear and make your energy better to you and those around you. This theory has been debunked by modern science and the crystals have no actual healing powers other then they might look nice on a bookshelf.
