         <description><![CDATA[<div>Over 10,000 students gathered to protest what they felt was </div><div>corruption in the Chinese government. They called for a move toward democracy.On June 4th, 1984, Xiaoping didn't like what he saw going on in the square ,so he sent in the military and they opened fire on the student protesters. Many of the students were arrested or even killed. The brief democracy movement was destroyed as well, and Xiaoping was left in control. He held power until his death in 1997. </div><div>  </div>]]></description>
