         <description><![CDATA[<div>Edmund Rice was born into a farming family on the 1st of June 1762  at Westcourt, Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Edmund grew up in quiet a wealthy family. In 1783 Edmund married Mary Elliot, who was the daughter of a prosperous Waterford business man. In 1786 Mary suffered a tragic accident of falling of a horse, she gave birth to a paralyzed girl who they named Mary, but then Mary (mum) died moments later.</div>]]></description>
