They were ugly monsters with huge wings, sharp fangs & claws, and their bodies covered with dragon-like scales. Some Gorgons had the lower half of a large snake whereas other had two feet. Gorgon-head symbols were used in Greece to ward off evil.

It is commonly known as a serpentine water monster and it's lair was the lake of Lerna, in the Argolid. The hydra was born of Echidna and Typhon. The hydra is also called the Lernean Hydra and it was what Heracles had to overcome during his second obstacle. It had poisonous breath and it's blood was so toxic that it's scent was deadly. It symbolizes the victory over desire and the primary movements of appropriation.

It has a spiritual meaning of being a guardian or protector and represented guardians pf great treasures that they would hoard high up on the mountains

Beings of great strength, the Greeks both feared and respected the Cyclops. There are at least two kinds of Cyclopes that can be found in Greek mythology. In Hesiod's Theogony, the Cyclopes were three brothers: Brontes, Steropes, and Arges, who were the sons of the primordials Uranus and Gaia. Skilled blacksmiths, Uranus imprisoned his son for their perceived ugliness. Years later, Uranus' grandson Zeus would free them. In return, they crafted Zeus' thunderbolt, Poseidon's trident, and Hades' Cap of Invisibility. They would later become assistants in Hephaestus' forge, and be a main source for heavenly weaponry. These cyclopes may have also built the Cyclopean walls of Mycanae, Tiryns, and Argos (though that may be a different group). In Homer's Odyssey, however, the Cyclopes are depicted an uncivilized group of shepherds and the sons of Poseidon. Notable among them is Polyphemus, who captured and ate two of Odysseus' crew. The crew escaped by jabbing a charred stake into his eye. There is a theory that the rise of the Cyclopes myth came from the skulls of dwarf elephants once common in Greece during the Pleistocene era. The daughters of the sea deities Ceto and Phorcys, these hideous sisters could turn any mortal to stone with their simple gaze. The gorgons were often depicted with broad, round heads, serpentine locks of hair, tongues lolling, pig tusks, sharp teeth, wings, and sometimes short, coarse beards. Two of them, Stheno and Euryale, were immortal, but their more infamous sister Medusa was not. Medusa met her end at the hands of Perseus, the demigod son of Zeus. Hiding himself, Perseus used a reflective shield so he could look at Medusa without being turned the stone. When Medusa got close enough, he quickly closed in and severed her head. From her blood sprouted the winged horse Pegasus and Chrysaor, a giant wielding a golden sword. In a late version of the myth from the Roman poet Ovid, Medusa was once a beautiful maiden and priestess of Athena. One day, she was raped by Poseidon in Athena's temple. Athena punished Medusa by changing her hair into snakes and giving her a petrifying gaze. This late invention was a result of Ovid's own anti-authoritarian views, and he often depicted the gods as even worse than they already were (even though Athena was much more fair and wise). He made sure that no one, alive or dead, would ever leave the Underworld. Born from the union of the hundred-headed Typhon and the snake woman Echidna, Cerberus shared many monstrous siblings, including the Lernaen Hydra, the Chimaera, and the Nemean Lion. Though commonly depicted with three heads, Hesiod writes in his Theogony that Cerberus had fifty heads. The poet Pindar takes this a step further and lists a hundred heads. Later authors tried to reconcile these descriptions by stating that Cerberus had three dog heads, and the rest were snakes spurting from his back, with a venomous one as his tail. The hound is mostly known for being the twelfth and final labor of Heracles. Without any weapons, Heracles used his immense strength to choke the beast into submission. If only he had known that Cerberus could be subdued by feeding him a honey-cake. On their journeys in the Underworld, Aeneas and Psyche both tossed honey-cakes at the dog to sedate him.
