         <title>Epithelial Tissues</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Epithelial tissue is made up of epithelia, consisting of layers of cells. Common characteristics of epithelial tissue include closely bound cells, an apical surface, no blood cells, and continuous regeneration. The basement membrane attaches epithelial cells to the body. Common functions of epithelial tissues also include providing physical protection, controlling permeability, providing sensations, and producing specialized secretions. Two types of specialized epithelial cells are microvilli and ciliated. Epithelial cells must continually replace and regenerate cells.</div>]]></description>
