On the day of my victory in battle out of the blue there was thunder and suddenly three witch like sisters appeared in front of Banquo and I and they said
" thou shalt get king, though thou be none. So all hail , Macbeth and Banquo ! " (1.3.67-68). I was very confused with this confrontation, I had never seen these women before. Should I believe what they said to me? For I was already Thane of Glamis , and now they have said , " All hail Thane of Glamis , all hail Thane of Cawdor"(1.3.48-49) Will I also become Thane of Cawdor ? They left me with thoughts of what my future holds. Should I proceed to take forth the prophecies they set?

If the witches say becoming king is in my future, than I should set forth to conquer it. "This Duncan Hath borne his faculities so meek, hath been so clear in his great office."(1. 7. 16-18) I just cannot seem to wrap my mind around killing someone as great and noble as he. Should I commit such a murder to secure my prophecy ?

Am I imagining things or is it all real?

Now that King Duncan is murdered, " to be thus is nothing, but to be safely thus, " (3.1.50) and I must make sure my position as king is secured. I fear Banquo, he is too noble and is willing to do anything and everything without fear. The witches have explained to me that it will be someone outside my family that will take away my position as king , what if its Banquo's sons as kings ! I can not let that happen, " for them the gracious Duncan have I murdered, put rancors in the vessel of my peace ."(3.1.68-70) If it is true and it is Banquo's sons who will take my place, killing Duncan would have been for nothing. I must prevent this and keep anyone from keeping me from being king, Banquo and Fleance both must be murdered. Therefore I have sent my two murderers to go after him and kill them both.
