Definition:
This red flag is when someone tries to persuade you that a certain explanation, treatment or model must be correct because it's been around for a long time

Connection
This article is from a healthy eating website that displays that people use techniques based solely on "ancient wisdom". This is one of many different articles on the website that are not proven by science or diet specialists. It is just information that is proven because people have been doing it for years.

Definition:
When something is trying to be proven to true because an authority figure or expert said it was true without any other evidence

Connection
Many celebrities do advertisements for commercials that they may know nothing about but are paid to say things to the audience. This is very common and this is just one example of this red flag. The things said by the celebrity is usually not proven to be true by any other fact other than they said it was true.

In this video there is a clear example of how the red herring fallacy is used to help Obama to divert the attention to facts that will help him

Definition
The red flag Proof by Verbosity is when an argument or point is way too complicated and detailed for anyone to reasonably argue the main points
Connection
When it comes to the Proof by Verbosity red flag i believe that Donald Trump is a very good example of this. If you look at any speech or statement he gives out when talking about a subject he tries to make himself a lot smarter and use many details and hand gestures to try to prove a point. By the time the audience has a chance to look through the information it is either too late, they cant be bothered or they already believe him.

Definition
This red flag is when people remember things that confirm what they believe but seem to leave out the parts that do not help their case or contradict what they want to believe

Connection
This red flag is used by many people on even a regular basis. One good example that could go both ways is Religion. People who do believe in a God and pray everyday for good things to come and then eventually good things do come for them and they now believe that because they prayed and believed in God that this was their reward. Now on the other side of things people who don''t believe in a God can say that you do all this praying and then there is no results and something bad happens to that person they then confirm with themselves that praying does nothing.
