Meetings were purposeful and focused. We have started some key programs, curriculum and placement testing, that will better serve our staff and students.
I would wish to expand a stronger district wide team coalition. Being able to support one another in a prompt and easy way which will also foster relationships.

Now, not enough teachers use them for students to bring them to school, and some students have been denied access to devices for reasons such as pornography, destruction, and failure to return last year's device. It's too much trouble to address students not bringing their laptops. I'm told next year our school will begin a new initiative to achieve 1-to-1 accessibility by keeping devices in content area classroom on COWs (Computers on Wheels Cart).

When I began working at my school, they were already implementing this for our campus, and I was thrilled. However, to know it is now district wide is even better. With Dr. Rojas taking a new position outside the district during the second semester, I know that it was even more difficult to maintain that momentum, and Shay made it appear seamless. The meetings we have attended are purposeful and provided hands on ideas that could be implemented almost immediately. I especially appreciated the emphasis on ways to differentiate within the language classroom, and I’m really looking forward to the seminar on the Seven Steps. Also, the tireless work of the test  placement committee will pay big dividends in the future. From my perspective, the main need for improvement lies at the campus level. There is a lack of horizontal alignment which prevents rich collaboration. I also appreciate your bringing in a recognized, accomplished professional in language teaching methods to address the larger group. I'd like to hear more about truly data-supported scientific research into effective methods from both the US and other countries on effective foreign language teaching. There have been times when the focus in smaller sessions has struck me rather negative toward students, or endorsing of a questionable "get tough" approach to expectations and classroom management. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into planning our ongoing PD opportunities and sessions.

It seems much more beneficial to have small group pull-outs than whole group instruction. I appreciate the leadership and team effort to formulate the placement test to better serve our student's learning needs. It is great to be able to provide evidence of the need to better differentiate language class levels available to our kids. I also appreciate the leadership's eagerness to assist all language teachers whenever needed and to advocate for teachers on the campus level and beyond. I am additionally pleased that our leadership team is so open to seeking everyone's feedback throughout the year; it is encouraging to see that this feedback is taken into account and is utilized in decision-making as often as is possible.
