This is difficult as no one want to come off as rude or mean. An effective way to challenge is the make a statement, then as a clarifying question. This way the author/speaker has an opportunity to hear/read your viewpoint, and offer either a justification of his/her actions/reactions, or agree with your statement. With practice, probing questions get better and the author/speaker can reflect on the feedback in a constructive way.

I like this one a lot -- it's sometimes so hard to not take everything personally or feel like you immediately have to be defensive. This is a great reminder that we are all here to help each other GROW and that we are all highly qualified in our own regards. We are just working to help each other get better in the moment rather than passing judgement.

This is one we will need to keep in mind as the year starts to get busy, busy. It's easy to drop things or put them off, but if we want this cohort to be successful, we will have to make sure we show up and take care of each other.

This is crucial because sometimes when you are trying to help or push someone they can see it as you being nit picky or maybe even that you are never happy. So I think it is nice to "challenge" someone but it can be done respectfully. This should also be something we keep in mind in the classroom with our students.

Everyone needs to remember that we are not perfect. We all need to continually grow and learn. When someone makes a suggestion to better your understanding or teaching, we cannot look at it as a "gotcha" moment. Your peers are making suggestions to improve you, which in turn will improve the students.

It is important as leaders we know how to challenge one another and ourselves respectfully, so the people we are mentoring can see how being challenged is not a scary thing.

This is important in that it allows us to focus on facts versus feelings. This prevents people from feeling like it is personal, and keeps the focus on what is being done for students.
