*Army*
-- Sparta army was unbelievable. Boys started training for war at the age of seven. Once they turned 20 they got into harsher training. For example, the men got lashed and whipped sometimes to the point of death. Spartan men became full-time soldiers and remained on active duty until age 60. One of the reasons Sparta's army was so strong was because the boys and men trained their whole life which made them well prepared. In the Spartan army, no one soldier was considered superior to another. They were all there to do the same thing an that was to defeat the other civilization (Cartwright; History).



*Independent women*
-- In Sparta women were treated no different than men. Sparta women were expected to be strong, healthy, and some times they would have to be ready to fight. They would have to be able to handle the fact that their husband or son could die in war. Most women even told their husband/son to win the war or die in it. Women were also expected to look after their husband's property in times of war. All Sparta women were able to speak with their husbands' friends. They could even own and control their own property. Lastly, they could marry again if their husband died or was in a war for too long (Cartwright; History Alive).

*Army*
--First of all, it probably sounds ridiculous to say Sparta used their army to help support their trade and economy. But to be honest, Sparta would never have gotten this far with their trade and economy without their army. Sparta's army helped the economy by conquering other villages so that Sparta had workers/slaves to do the work they couldn’t do and to get the goods they couldn't get (Cartwright).

*Armor/weapons*
--  Sparta's armor is one of the reasons why they lasted so long in a war. Even though it wasn't outstanding technology, but it worked for them. Spartans who fought in war wore a large bronze helmet, chest plate, ankle guards, and carried around shield made of bronze and wood, and lastly a long spear and sword. A hoplon is a shield made together with a spear, it was the most important weapon for Spartan warriors (Cartwright).



*Statues*
-- Sparta made statues for many things such as their religion, for decoration, and for someone important. Spartans created a statue or painting of a real person, that somewhat resembled the person, but the statue was always made more appealing. Men were always given lots of muscles and they gave women long, flowing hair. They also put men and women's eyes evenly spaced. (Lacey)
