1, it was an amazing opportunity to listen to three inspirational speakers from three different fields of interest in one webinar.

2, IT, biotechnology and astrophysics = three excitingly developing sciences, three charismatic speakers, three motivational lines of success.

3, the first speaker was Aurimas Garnevičius – a former student of Ignalinos r. Vidiškių gimnazijos in Lithuania who lives his dream life as a Senior Software Engineer at Danske Bank, where he is part of the Regulatory Control Group that develops systems to ensure that the bank's traders manage the risks of their trades and avoid excessive commissions.

4, the second speaker was Gytis Druteika – also a former student of Ignalinos r. Vidiškių gimnazijos in Lithuania who is now a PhD student and junior researcher at Vilnius University, Life Sciences Centre and whose research focuses on developing CRISPR-Cas gene-editing technologies - a groundbreaking discovery that was recently awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and who is a co-author of multiple scientific articles and has presented his works at international conferences in Lithuania, France, and the USA.

5, the third speaker was Tuğba Erol – a former student of Nuh Mehmet Baldöktü Anadolu Lisesi in Kayseri, Turkey who cannot imagine another professional path from the one she chose to follow in the area of astronomy and whose study and research focuses on emerge and collisions of galaxies and who loves attending conferences which push the frontiers of our knowledge

Our three inspiring speakers, Aurimas Garnevičis, Gytis Druteika and Tuğbos Erol from Turkey, shared their achievements and advice on how today's young people can find the motivation and the desire to achieve educational excellence.

I listened and admired our former students.

I am very grateful to all who participated in this meeting. I hope we have many more wonderful and engaging meetings in the future.

If you could choose any other profession, what would it be? What do you think is the most important thing about your profession? Is communication with people important in your profession?

This is very inspiring, because with this attitude we can achieve everything we want.

„When I didn´t understand something, I asked my friend how is he doing this or that, he taught me and showed me how to do it.“ – Mr. Garnevičius

This is a great lesson. We should be curious and we shouldn´t be scared because of something we haven´t understood yet.

I liked the most the life story of the second speaker because I am also interested in natural sciences. It was really inspiring to listen to someone who cooperates with so smart people who could be winners of the Nobel prize. I also learned that it is important to check your emails because one message can change your life 😊.

Programmer:
“The programmer told us that he enjoys creating systems through coding with the programming language C#. What do you like about the language? (lang. features, ecosystem etc.)? C# and Java are very similar languages syntax-wise. Do you think C# is better than Java? Why or why not?”
Biologist:
“How can we, the regular consumers, find out if the products we are buying have been affected by biological engineering? I haven't seen a label on any product informing us of that yet.”
Astronomer:
“What do you think is the most groundbreaking achievement affecting humanity in your field in the last 10 years?”

All the speakers talked about interesting things, and I loved it!

I especially enjoyed the biologist's talk because he went into detail in the topics he introduced (in a very nice and ordered fashion) and also talked about how his work affects everyone due to the positive consequences resulting from the research of “DNA scissors” which allow to rid of the genetic diseases and the part where he talked about taking features of multiple genes and combining them to create an organism with great features and good genes which is very useful in my opinion.

Also, the programmer did it nicely - liked the part where he told us about his entry to programming and his willingness to learn and not give up even when being in a competitive new environment, a university for example, while you have much less skill than others at first and how the process of searching for information is a huge part of the equation not only in IT but in other scenarios too. And of course, the details about the IT world and his life path were quite nice too.

I liked the part where the astronomer talked about the interesting shell galaxies and their importance to astronomy, which I didn't know about at all before listening to her talk as well as the positive effect & need of curiosity in life and much more.

From his speech, I learned that we should never be afraid to ask for help when we don't have the answers ourselves, that we should always look for solutions and never give up. He also emphasized that even in experiences that seem like failures at first, there are always things to be grateful for, and in the end, we will learn something valuable.

Question: Is there a particular company in the tech industry you admire or aspire to work for? What is it about their work or culture that resonates with you?

He wanted to show us that hard work eventually pays off, but it’s important to enjoy the journey. He also reminded us not to compare ourselves to others or give up when things get tough. Instead, we should look to others for inspiration and keep pushing forward.

Question: Fields like biology and chemistry, including programs like medicine and biochemistry, are known to be among the most challenging areas of study. What advice would you give to future students on staying motivated, balancing their workload, and still finding time for extracurricular activities or competitions? Do you think it’s even possible to manage it all, and if so, how?

Her message to us was to never be afraid to reach out to more experienced individuals. They can inspire you and help you realize that you're on the right path.

Question: With the growing number of satellites and devices in orbit, space is becoming increasingly crowded and polluted. What are your thoughts on the impact of this on astrophysical research and our understanding of the universe?

We had an online meeting, and it was an amazing experience. The discussion covered various topics and I was especially excited since some of them were related to my areas of interest. The meeting allowed me to gain new insights and broaden my perspective. Listening to different viewpoints and learning from others was truly inspiring. It made me even more eager to explore new ideas and deepen my knowledge. I’m grateful for such opportunities, as they help me grow academically and personally. I look forward to more discussions like this in the future!

I summarised some of your ideas for the students who missed the webinar.

Early life: Aurimas Garnevičius, a former student of Ignalinos r. Vidiškių gimnazijos in Lithuania, has successfully built a career as a Senior Software Engineer at Danske Bank. His journey from being a child with an early interest in computers to a well-established IT professional highlights the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and problem-solving skills.

Early Interest in Technology: As a child, Aurimas was one of the few in his community to own a computer. Initially, he was interested in computer repair, but due to the lack of a dedicated academic major, he shifted his focus to programming.

Education and Learning Process: Understanding the IT job market requirements, Aurimas prioritized physics over traditional IT exams. He joined Vilnius University with only basic programming knowledge. To enhance his skills, he connected with a more experienced friend who had already published a game on STEAM. This mentorship provided him with critical guidance.

He developed a problem-solving strategy based on structured Google searches, analyzing different forums to find solutions. His key takeaway was that learning how to find information is more valuable than memorizing everything.

Exploring IT Fields:

 Aurimas explored different branches of IT:

Programmer – Focuses on coding.

Computer Scientist – Works on algorithms, theory, and research.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge, including economics, project management, and psychology, to become a well-rounded IT professional.

Problem-Based Learning & First Projects: Aurimas enrolled in a 1.5-year Problem-Based Learning program, where he worked on a major project: developing a mobile app that could scan a Visa card and automatically create a phone contact. This experience helped him gain teamwork and project development skills.

First IT Job & Work Experience: After two years at university, Aurimas began job hunting. His first job was at TJI, a project-based company developing software for businesses. Balancing work and studies was challenging, but the COVID-19 pandemic made remote work more manageable.

Career Growth: Aurimas later joined a Danske bank, working in the digital marketing squad, focusing on targeted communication. He also completed an internship at university. He decided not to pursue a Master’s degree, as he found it unnecessary for private sector jobs where salaries remain unchanged by higher education degrees.

Mid & Senior Software Engineer Roles:

Aurimas gained diverse experience in different roles:

Teria (Swedish telecom company): Worked on a TV application using C#, enjoying the experience of developing user-friendly products.

Marine Unit Experience: Improved his communication skills and understood the importance of a supportive work environment.

Current Role – Senior Software Engineer at Danske Bank: Works in financial markets, focusing on price control and risk management to alert traders when excessive risks are taken.

First Laboratory Work: Initial research focused on bacterial proteins that digest fats. This hands-on experience extended to participation in scientific conferences, where research findings were presented. A key goal in scientific research is the publication of articles in reputable journals, a milestone achieved through the co-authorship of four research publications. Additionally, efforts were made to give back to the academic community by providing lectures and laboratory training for high school students.

Further Achievements & iGEM Competition: To support education, scholarships were pursued successfully. A major accomplishment was joining the Vilnius iGEM Team, an international competition in synthetic biology that encompasses various domains such as diagnostics, energy, environment, food, high school education, and information processing. Working within this diverse team fostered collaboration across multiple scientific disciplines, enhancing both technical and interpersonal skills.

With each speaker focusing on different parts of science, the whole meeting left a more varied impression. Aurimas Garnevičius provided us with helpful insights into his work with IT technologies, focusing on the importance and various uses of his abilities in different areas. Gytis Druteika talked about his unexpected career path into biotechnologies that later turned into big achievements and successes, and Tuğba Erol's enthusiastic speech would convince anyone that her field, astronomy, is truly fascinating.

All three speakers decided to share with us detailed stories of their journeys to success, including starting points of their careers or challenges they had to face, giving us an incredible opportunity to learn from their mistakes, while also giving us an idea of the tremendous amount of work and time they must have invested in order to reach such progress and professionalism in their fields. It is not often that we get to see even a small part of the whole process and the great effort behind people's success, so I am grateful that the speakers chose to present their work in this way.

Each of the speakers emphasized the importance of genuine interest in something and trying to succeed in what we are passionate about while being prepared to devote significant mental effort and time to it. They encouraged us not to be afraid to step out of our comfort zone, which is inevitable for personal growth and to try to make the most of every opportunity we are given. They inspired us not to be afraid to contact people who might help us and to try spending our free time more effectively.

In conclusion, I would like to thank everyone involved in this great experience and everyone who helped organize it. I extend my sincere thanks to the Lithuanian students, especially Austėja Garnevičiūtė, who moderated the whole meeting and smoothly took us through all three inspirational speeches. The first speaker was Vladimír Krajčo, a former student of Gymnasium of Ivan Kupec in Hlohovec, Slovakia, a graduate of the Slovak University of Technology. During his study at university he won several awards in competitions such as „Industrial Engineering, Management and Quality”, “Digital Enterprise” and “Process Optimization Projects”. In his professional career he optimized processes in companies in Mexico, China, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Italy, USA and at the age of 32 he accepted the position of production director at a new plant in China.

The second speaker was Eduard Zelenay, also a former student of Gymnasium of Ivan Kupec in Hlohovec, Slovakia, who is currently studying at the Slovak University of Technology. He has been engaged in many projects such as „Robotic arm for automated water purification sampling and ampoule sealing”, “Neural networks training”, “Controlling an autonomous mobile robot”,  “Simulation of the pancreas”, “Autonomous navigation and control of drones”. He visited educational institutions in South Korea and Japan and now works at the robotics company Panza Robotics, where they are developing a four-legged walking robot - Artaban.

The third speaker was Daiva Balevičiūtė, a former student of Ignalinos r. Vidiškių gimnazijos in Lithuania, the graduate of Business management at Vilnius College, Mykolas Romeris University and several IT courses, now an artist and a marketing and communication manager, who collaborated in many TV and radio media campaigns and helped many businesses create impactful digital marketing strategies and engaging content and was also awarded in National Geographic's photo contests.

The first two speakers are both former students of the Gymnasium of Ivan Kupec in Hlohovec, Slovakia, so it was truly inspiring to hear about the success of people who once walked the same hallways as I do now. It’s amazing that they were able to pursue careers in fields they are passionate about and prove that a good amount of motivation, effort and consistency is able to lead to great achievements.

Vladimír Krajčo, the first speaker, talked about the beginnings of his career and later tenure in the successful international company, mainly focusing on optimisation processes. His various achievements eventually led to him being offered the important position of production director for a new line in China. Throughout his speech, he gave us several useful pieces of advice and shared the things he would have done differently, warning us about mistakes we should try to avoid. He encouraged us by saying that all successful people were once beginners, so we shouldn’t be afraid to be bad at something new.

The second speaker, Eduard Zelenay, gave us a fascinating look into the world of robotics and how his skills are applied across various scientific fields. I liked that he presented some specific projects to us that he had worked on before so we could better imagine what his career looks like. He is still a student at the university, but he is currently working on another impressive project as well. It was interesting to learn that he once dreamed of becoming an actor before discovering his passion for robotics, proving that there’s no single “correct” path in life. His experiences during his trips to Japan and South Korea also added another inspiring layer to his story and the fact that he even came to our school to present his part made the whole experience even more engaging and interactive.

The last speaker, Daiva Balevičiūtė, is from Lithuania and besides her dedication to marketing and business management, she is also a great artist and photographer. It is awesome that one of her pictures was even awarded in the contest organized by The National Geographic. She also talked about her love for travelling and I especially enjoyed the part where she described her trip to Antarctica and their extraordinary meeting with a whale.

In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude again to everyone involved in this enriching meeting and everyone who worked on arranging and planning everything needed. I also really appreciate the moderating of Timejka Balážiková as her commentary added a smooth flow to the whole meeting. I am deeply thankful to all three speakers for preparing great presentations and once again expanding our knowledge about possible career opportunities. Thank you!

It does not matter, if I want to be a software engineer, famous artist or busy manager. Human dreams are fuel for our future path.

 But we should enjoy the present moment. We should have some hobbies, which will support our creativity, our mind,body or shape our skills. But when we see chance, we should take it.

It might be an opportunity, to achieve our dreams and goals. Nobody can give you a guide how to navigate in this big maze called life. But at least, you can try it yourselves.

Musa Nazif Boya, a Software Engineer at Huawei Turkey R&D Center, discussed his transition from an Electrical and Electronics Engineering background to software development. His involvement in projects ranging from embedded medical systems to cloud-based OTT platforms illustrated the importance of both technical expertise and adaptability in the tech industry.

Andrej Korman, currently a Software Engineer at Google in Zurich, shared his journey through Computer Science studies at Comenius University and his various internship experiences across Europe. His presentation highlighted the impact of early professional engagement and the advantages of international exposure.

Ufuk Yıldırım, working at Ford Otosan as a commodity purchasing team member, presented a different yet equally insightful path. His academic success in Civil Engineering at Boğaziçi University, combined with his student exchange experience in South Korea, emphasized the value of academic dedication, global mobility, and career flexibility.

Each speaker’s story demonstrated that learning strategies for the future are not only about technical knowledge, but also about adaptability, openness to international experience, and the courage to follow unique career paths. This webinar helped participants reflect on their own goals and offered meaningful examples of navigating a global and dynamic professional environment.

Staying persistent, setting goals and learning continuously are as important as being open to new opportunities, seeking out the mentors and developing the true team spirit.

Andrej Korman, a former student of Grammar school of Ivan Kupec and a graduate of Comenius University, who has worked for Amazon, Uber, Spotify, J. P. Morgan, Samsung, Apple, IBM, Goldman Sachs, Marvell, Optiver, Intel etc., described his journey from learning of several programming languages and joining various correspondence seminars through teaching children and organising IT competitions up to working for HFT (High Frequency Trading) companies in London. He said that although he met the smartest people in his life there, we should not sacrifice everything to our goals and we should consider pros and cons and change our previous plans if it is better for us. As he did it when he came back to Zurich where he is much happier. And now every Google search uses his code😊. From his experience, many people underestimate themselves, so he recommends not to be discouraged by failure because he believes “Failure taught him much more than Success”.

After having fun while playing a Kahoot about career choices, we listened to Ufuk Yildirim who at the beginning thanked his teachers who turned his interests to science and supported him. He stated that we should trust ourselves, have the desire to study new things and be determined.

Musa Nasif Boya, a software engineer revealed that he always wanted to do what he had not done before like developing autonomous drones with high precision or creating robots used in medicine. In his opinion it is beneficial to have a plan but plans change all the time so it is essential to be always ready to change our partial plans and follow the main direction. He also underlined the necessity of learning foreign languages and balance in our work, social and sports activities.

The webinar featured three speakers, each with a different story to tell — and yet, all of them shared something in common: a deep passion for learning, growing, and staying open to life’s unexpected turns.

The first speaker, Andrej Korman, is currently a software engineer at Google in Zurich, and he’s also worked at major companies like Amazon, Spotify, and Apple. What amazed me wasn’t just his impressive list of employers, but the honesty in how he spoke about his journey. He started off as a regular high school student in Slovakia, learning to program, joining competitions, and helping others along the way. He shared that even though he achieved big things, some of the most important lessons came from moments of failure. He also reminded us that happiness matters — and that it’s okay to change direction if your path isn’t right for you. Today, he lives in Zurich and finds joy in a more balanced life. And just imagine — every time we Google something, a bit of his code helps us. That really stuck with me.

Our second speaker, Ufuk Yıldırım, offered a different kind of story. He works at Ford Otosan and studied civil engineering at Boğaziçi University. During his studies, he had the opportunity to study abroad in South Korea, and his gratitude for his teachers and experiences was clear in every word. Ufuk’s message was all about trusting yourself, staying determined, and being open to learning from others. He showed us that success doesn’t always follow a straight line — and that every twist and turn has its own value.

Last but certainly not least, we heard from Musa Nazif Boya, a software engineer at Huawei Turkey R&D Center. He’s worked on amazing projects like developing autonomous drones and medical robots, things that once felt like science fiction. What made his story special was his belief in trying new things, even if you don’t feel completely ready. He talked about how important it is to stay flexible in your plans, because life can change quickly. He also reminded us of something we all sometimes forget — the importance of balance in our lives, including time for friends, sports, and just enjoying the journey.

To make things even more fun, we played a Kahoot quiz about career choices in the middle of the webinar. It added a playful energy to the session and gave everyone a chance to laugh, guess, and learn in a more relaxed way.

But beyond the speakers and games, this webinar was a moment to pause and reflect on something bigger — our Erasmus+ experience as a whole. Over the past months, we’ve met students and teachers from different countries, shared cultures, exchanged ideas, and created friendships that I truly believe will last beyond this project. We’ve worked hard, laughed a lot, and grown in ways we never expected. Whether it was through Zoom calls,or fun time together, every part of this experience taught us something valuable.

So, I want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to our teachers, our coordinators, and our partner schools. Thank you to the amazing speakers who shared their journeys with us. And most of all, thank you to my fellow students — for the laughs, the teamwork, and the memories we’ve made together.

This webinar reminded me that learning isn’t just about books or exams. It’s about people, experiences, and the courage to step into the unknown. As we move forward, whether into university, a new country, or a future career, let’s carry this spirit with us. Let’s stay curious, stay kind, and never be afraid to dream big.

The speakers showed that it is important to stay motivated, set goals, and work step by step. I also learned that I don’t have to be perfect. Mistakes are a normal part of life, and I can learn a lot from them. What matters is not to give up, but to keep trying and believe in myself.

Another important message was that plans can change, and that’s okay. Sometimes the path is not straight, but that doesn’t mean I am lost. I just need to keep my direction and stay open to new chances. It was also a good reminder that I should think about balance – not only work, but also time for family, friends, and health.

The webinar gave me new energy and ideas. It helped me think about my future and understand that with effort, curiosity, and the right mindset, many things are possible.

Besides joining summer schools, various seminars, and participating in IT competitions, he promoted teaching others as a great way to remember, learn, and understand challenging topics. His consistency and dedication eventually enabled him to work across a range of fields - from enhancing laboratory software and contributing to trading companies to joining successful global giants such as Amazon, Apple, Spotify or ESET. A part of his code even touches every Google search we make, which I personally find truly remarkable. He mentioned that communication plays a crucial role in his work, especially when dealing with complex projects that require collaboration among multiple people. Speaking from experience, he encouraged us to believe in ourselves and not get easily discouraged when things do not go as planned on the first try. He emphasized that failure is often more valuable than immediate success, as it allows us to learn from our mistakes and gives us ideas for improvement. In the end, he advised us to surround ourselves with people who challenge and inspire us, as they are the ones who push us forward and help us grow - both professionally and personally.

Ufuk Yildirim, our second speaker, talked about his academic path and shared with us his memorable experience of studying abroad in South Korea. Throughout his talk, he expressed deep appreciation for the support he received from his teachers and family, which played a big role in shaping his journey. Ufuk also encouraged us to believe in ourselves and stay motivated, emphasizing that being curious and open to learning from others is just as important as being ambitious. He also reminded us that success is not always a straightforward path and that every challenge contributes to our growth.

The last speaker was Musa Nazif Boya, a software engineer whose work requires not only deep technical knowledge but also a great deal of creativity, as it involves developing autonomous robots and working with high-precision signal systems. He emphasized how important it is to keep learning, work hard and not be afraid of taking on responsibility, even when it feels scary. He also pointed out how crucial planning is, though he reminded us that plans often change and that it is more important to keep our long-term direction clear while remaining flexible about the path. In addition, he spoke about the importance of learning foreign languages, as they open up opportunities for collaboration and growth. Lastly, he reminded us that while staying focused on our professional goals is important, balance and making time for physical activity and social life is key to leading a happy life.

Overall, this webinar was a great way to wrap up the whole series of our online meetings and I am truly grateful to have been a part of this experience. Listening to all the speakers and their real-life experiences opened my eyes to many new perspectives on life and education and I learned valuable lessons that made me reflect on my own future.
