Par exemple, le pouce exerce une action sur une punaise pour l'enfoncer dans un mur. Un aimant attiré une plaque de fer.

Les actions peuvent se classer en deux catégories:
- les actions de contact : un objet agit sur un autre en le touchant.

- les actions à distance : un objet agit sur un autre sans qu'il y ait de contact entre eux.
