Times Square is located in Midtown Manhattan close to Central Park and Empire State Building. You can get there easily by subway. 

 It is open all day and night because it is a street and can’t close. However, it makes most sense to go there when the shops are open. The billboards run 24/7. 

 It was built in 1905 between Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It is one of the most visited placed in NYC with 340.000 visitors each day. It is a very busy street. There are one of the biggest LED billboards in the world. They are simply huge and quite impressive. 

You can hug your favorite cartoon character or go shopping. At night it is even nicer to look at the bright lights/billboards than by day. 

China town is a district in Downtown Manhattan. 

It is open all day and you can just walk through it. It is for free. 

There is also Columbus park. It is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and costs $8. 

The Chinese first arrived in the U.S. in the early 1800s. IN 1879, there were only 200 Chinese people that settled down in that area. Now about 50.000 Chinese people in Chinatown NYC. If you are interested in the history you can also visit the Museum of Chinese in America. 

The Chinese play traditional Chinese music on the streets. You can also find fortunetellers there. You can visit nice restaurant there and eat traditional and authentic Chinese food. If you are lucky you might also be able to visit one of the Buddhist temples in that district. 

Columbus park: People practice Tai Chi there. Children play soccer, volleyball and Basketball on the nearby courts/fields. You can see a statue of the former president of the Republic of China there.  

It’s a large park in NYC and is located between Upper West and Upper East side of the the borough Manhattan. You can take the subway (Stop is Columbus Circle) or go by bus or cab. 

It is open from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. It is closed at night because there is a lot of crime in NYC. It’s for free. 

Central Park was originally built as a promenade for wealthy local residents. Central park was completed in 1873 and is surrounded by tall buildings and skyscrapers. It occupies 6% of Manhattan. 25 million people visit Central Park every year. 

There is a bicycle station where you can pick a bike and drive around the park with it. There are big areas of grass, so you can play football, badminton or basketball. You can also rent a boat and drive on a lake. In the winter you can also go Ice skating on the lakes. It’s a quiet place in the loud and busy city where you can relax and take a break. 

Brooklyn Bridge connects Brooklyn and Manhattan and crosses the East River. 

If you are in Manhattan take a train to Fulton Street or subways to Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge is right across the street. 

Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges (Hängebrücken) of this type in the USA. At the time of its completion in 1883, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It is 1824 meters long and is a landmark for New York. It has six lanes for vehicles and also a big foot- and cycle path. This path is located above the lanes. Brooklyn Bridge is also famous for its stone arches. 

It is free for everyone and open at any time because it is a public bridge that connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. 

A good reason for visiting Brooklyn Bridge is the view that you get of Manhattan. It’s a good opportunity for taking a nice photo. After crossing the bridge you can also have rest in Brooklyn Bridge Park. You can have a picnic, take pictures of the bridge and see the Manhattan skyline. 

It is in midtown Manhattan. You can take the train to Penn Station or Herald Square. 

The Empire State Building opens from Monday until Friday from 10 a.m to 10 p.m and from 9 a.m to 10 p.m. on weekends. 

You can buy tickets for thirty-four to forty dollars depending on which platform you want to visit and how old you are.

The Waldorf Astoria Hotel was purchased for $20 million and then demolished. Then they built the Empire State Building there. It was built in 1931 and it only took 13 months to be built, which was and is really fast. Back then it was the first building with more than 100 floors. It has 192 floors and is 387 meters high. 447 meters with its antenna. The observation deck has millions of visitors every year.

The staute, which stands on a platform and has a torch in its hand, was a present from the French to the Amerians. It was built by Gustave Eiffel, who also built the famous Eiffel tower. It is 93 meters high and was finished in 1886. It can be found on Liberty Island. 

Rechnically it is free to visit it, but you have to buy tickets for the ferry. If you want to go inside and climb the stairs to the top, the crown, you have to buy a ticket aswell. 

You can learn something about the history of the Statue of Liberty. 

You can take pictures. You can do an Audio Tour of Liberty Island and you can go inside the Statue. If you want and are willing to wait in a long queue, you can also go up the many stairs to the crown and see through the windows. There is also a museum that tells you about the history of migration to the US, because all the immigrants back then had to register on Liberty Island in that same building (building of the museum) before they entered the US.  

It is located in downtown/lower Manhattan

 Ground Zero is a place where 2753 people died when and after two planes crashed into the Twin Towers.They were part of a complex of seven buildings, all of which were destroyed when the skyscrapers collapsed. It was an attack by the Taliban and their leader back then was Osama bin Laden. The park features two pools with waterfalls in the footprint of the Twin Towers encircled by panels featuring the names of the persons who died in the attack. 

You can have guided tours and can visit the 9/11 memorial Museum which tells you about the history of Ground Zero (open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). You can also see the only tree that survived the attack. 

Broadway is the theatre district in Midtown Manhattan on Times Square between 41st and 53rd Streets and between Sixth and Ninth Avenue. You can get there by bus, subway, cab or on foot. 

Broadway is open every day of the week. You can watch shows almost all day. Tickets start from $20. 

It is the theatre district in New York. 1500 premieres have been performed so far. Many people dream of becoming famous on Broadway. 

There are 38 theaters, many of which only play/piece one play for a long time. 

You can go shopping or visit one of the 40 theatres. You can see many shows and musicals there. You can find big theaters but also small stages there. You can also spend some time at one of the many bars. 

The skyscraper is in lower Manhattan. 

You can get there by subway, bus, car or on foot. 

The opening hours of the observatory deck are rom 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s open every day. 

The entrance fee is $35 for adults, $26 for children (6-13). Children under 5 don’t have to pay anything.

One World Trade Center is a new skyscraper on the famous World Trade Center Site.The One World Trade center was built because the twin towers were destroyed on September 11, 2001. The twin towers once were the biggest buildings in NYC and the skyscraper was built right next to where the two twin towers once were. 

It was built from 2004 to 2015. It is 541 meters high including its aerial. It’s height until roof is 417 meters. It is used as an office building but also has an observatory deck for tourists.

 

You can visit the observatory deck on the 100th to 102nd floor, the 9/11 Memorial and 9/11 Museum which is next to it or go shopping in the  One World Trade Center Shopping Mall.
