Hello,
My name is Ruth Sanders.
I started teaching Business Studies, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Leisure & Tourism in September 2005. Prior to that, I had been a Teaching Assistant for 10 years for pupils with additional learning needs, autism and dyslexia.

I currently work in a specialist setting for 180 pupils aged 3 -16 who have been diagnosed with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) together with long term and complex social and emotional behavioural difficulties (SEBD). I also work with pupils within our assessment facility aged 11-16 who have emotional and/or behavioural difficulties that prevent or impede school attendance.

I started eTwinning in September 2008 and have since participated in over 50 different projects with schools throughout Europe. Our pupils enjoyed the experience so much and worked so hard that we have achieved 17 UK Quality Labels and 10 European Quality Labels in recognition of their work.

In 2012 I became a British Council eTwinning Ambassador and I started visiting other schools in my own and neighbouring authorities and giving talks at workshops both in the UK and throughout Europe to offer information and support to encourage others to add an international dimension to their teaching.

I visited Finland as part of a KA1 project to look at Digital Competency last April and had a fantastic time and learnt so much about teaching new skills.

I really hope that our application for KA2 is successful so that our pupils can also benefit from visiting other countries.

Hello all! My name is Cerian Flannery and I work in a special school called Ysgol Hendrefelin in South Wales. The school is primarily for pupils aged 11-16 with a range of difficulties. These difficulties include but are not limited to: dyslexia, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, speech and language difficulties and behaviour difficulties. I have worked in this school for approaching ten years, but spent two years teaching in a mainstream comprehensive prior to that. I trained as an English specialist teacher, but since then have specialized in supporting pupils with additional learning needs and have two graduate diplomas in this area. I am also a British Dyslexia approved teacher. I have also been fortunate enough to visit Finland as part of a KA1 visit focusing on Wellbeing, and found the experience valuable and inspiring. This prompted me to want to apply for Erasmus KA2! I hope the application is successful, as I feel the opportunity for our pupils would be so enriching! I'm also lucky enough to work directly with Ruth.

I'm still learning the ropes in many things and I equally look forward to broaden my horizon with our work here. Also, it's really great to be helping organise something that will enrich the lives of pupils in so many countries!

While our school isn't very big per se, we do teacher all grades from 6-year-olds all the way to upper secondary school so in that way our atmosphere and opportunities are unique.

During my free time I most enjoy swimming in ice-cold lakes in the winter, music, and all sorts of games.

Nice to meet you all and I really look forward to our get-together in Wales!

I love music, drama, dance and travelling and exploring the big wide world.
