Youth in Mission is an event hosted by UPH College in which students are sent to different locations all around Indonesia. This is not just for a vacation, but for a Missionary. The task is simple enough, which is: spread the word of God and show kindness towards others. The city that I personally picked is Lampung, where my team and I assemble to serve others in the intention of spreading love. I also get to learn more about Sumatra culture and how the people made such a wonderful society. In conclusion, Youth in Mission gives motivation for us to speak in the word of God and let people know that there are people who noticed them and love them. We all are equally loved by God, so that's why we must also love others.

Morning Exercise With SMPK Metro 🏫

On Thursday, I prepared myself for a day that I wasn't ready for. It was early in the morning when we boarded the bus to SMPK Metro. The ride felt so fast, filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. When we finally arrived, I was a bundle of nerves. Almost immediately, they told me I’d be leading the Poco Poco and Gemufamire dances for the morning exercise. I was terrified I’d mess up, but to my surprise, once the music started, I found my rhythm. Somehow, I got through it without a mistake. And as my confidence grew, I felt my energy rise too.

Art & Craft Session 🧶🧺

After the morning exercises ended, we were assigned different activity sessions. I picked the art and craft session, where I’d be teaching the kids how to paint and make crafts. I was nervous again, but as the day went on, session by session, it all went smoothly. By the end of it, it felt amazing meeting so many new faces.

New Friendship 👯‍♀️💞

By noon, it was finally time for a break. The school provided us with snacks and drinks. There wasn’t much time to do anything too big, so we decided to play games with the kids. That’s when I met my new friend. She was hilarious and matched my humor! We talked about everything-school, our favorite snacks, the city of Lampung, and so much more.

Time To Say Goodbye 👋❗️

It's evening now, and the time has come to say goodbye to SMPK Metro. I parted ways with friends, unsure if we’ll meet again. Today made me realize how much of a loss it would’ve been if we had never gotten to know each other. I’ve grown more grateful for what I have, and happy to make them happy and be a blessing to others.

The service trip to SMPK Metro was truly memorable. It wasn’t just about the activities we led or the friendships we made, but also about the chance to experience a new culture. Even though each day was tiring, but it always ended up smoothly and left a wonderful memory. I’m grateful for both the experiences and the people who made it special.
