1. I will teach students to be inclusive in the classroom. It is important that all children's feel they are apart of the classroom. The students will feel more comfortable and reach outside their comfort zone. 2. I like the idea of using activities during morning circle to get students talking to people they aren't usually playing with. So you could play a morning greeting game.

One thing I will do to promote friendship building is mix up the groups in our classroom. Sometimes students don't get the opportunity to work or talk with other friends in the classroom, which may prevent them from being friends. By mixing up groups and partners, I hope my students will become closer with more students and have a better chance at creating more friendships in the classroom.
2. Another thing I will do is use puppets and role play to teach children about friendship. Role playing and the use of puppets is an engaging way for students to learn what it means to be a good friend and also how to make friends if they are shy or don't know how to yet.

1. I will teach children acceptance. Each child needs to feel accepted into a setting to then be able to thrive. They need to accept and understand the differences between each other, but that they do not impact who you can be friends with.
2. I want to promote friendships by having students pick a seat based on what they wore that day, or how they got to school. Then they can see that each child in the classroom is connected either by how they get to school, what they wear or maybe even what they ate for breakfast.

An important thing to focus on in the classroom is providing students with opportunities to share and have open discussion. I have seen how this facilitates natural relationships between students as they find common interests within one another, and have chances to speak out and communication (especially if they are more reluctant to open up). In these sharings it is important to focus on accepting differences and recognizing that everyone is unique, yet everyone can be unique together. This is done through discussion, activities that can be implemented in lessons, and everyday encounters in the classroom environment. Also modeling is a great way, as students may need some scaffolding on how to be a friend and how to be kind. Walking them through solutions and ways to appropriately communicate can lead to friendships among students.

One way I will promote friendship building in my future classroom is to switch up the groups that children are in. Have them sit by new people, rearrange their seating arrangement often, and just promoting different groups to work together.
I will also teach the idea of inclusivity and how we are all different. I think it is important to start that conversation at a young age, so it is something they are familiar with as they grow up.

1. I think at morning meeting, especially for littles, a good idea and strategy would be a greeting game and you have to great a certain number of friends or one friend greets every individual.
2. I also think creating friendship buddies would be a good idea. Especially if children gravitate toward working with certain identities and the same people over and over again. This allows for some flexibility on who children are interacting with giving them more socialization opportunities.

Books! There are so many high quality books on being a good friend and accepting everyone. These are a great way to support and model friendship building relationships. Another thing is building a positive classroom community and sense of we. We are only as strong as our weakest link. Having a we mentality will lead to classmates having a sense of belonging with all other members.

One way I will promote friendship building in my classroom is by making my classroom an inviting and safe environment. I want students to work together and learn from one another. I will do this by making my classroom interactive in as many ways as possible. The second way I plan to promote friendship building is by being conscious of pairing students up. I will also make sure these pairings are changed constantly through out the school year. A few ways I plan to do this is through buddy systems, changing tables arrangements, and morning meetings.

1. Create a positive and inclusive environment where students have multiple opportunities to play and work with different students. This can be through different grouping for stations, partnering different students, having large group activities, and morning meetings.
2. Lead by example. Though I realize as the teacher we aren't suppose to just focus on being their friend BUT I think it's important to show social interactions by example. Show students how to greet, ask to play, share etc... The students look up to us for guidance so we have to show the positive impact that relationships can have.

1) The first thing I want to do is to create an inclusive classroom where students are able to feel welcome in the environment and not excluded in any sort of way. I would hope by creating an inclusive classroom will have my future students learn acceptance for each child they meet. Having students understand that everyone is different and still accepting them for who they are will hopefully promote friendship in my future classroom.
2) Activities and books I think would be a great way to incorporate and promote friendship within the classroom and school.

I think that having an environment where students feel accepted and loved is the most important step in promoting friendship building.
2. The second thing I will incorporate into my future classroom is culturally responsive and antibias books that promote kindness, compassion, and acceptance. Books are such a great tool to bring in the classroom and help promote a positive environment. This is definitely something I will be do to help promote friendship building in my future class.

When children are playing and interacting with each other it is important to listen and watch how they are treating each other. I will ensure that students are aware that all feelings are valid and welcomed into my classroom. I want to encourage students to be brave and confident and learn how to build each other up even if they are different than one another.

I want to promote friendship building in my future classroom through encouraging group work, books, and role playing. I think reading a variety of books that focus on friendship and being inclusive will help students to grasp this idea as well as role playing. Through role playing the kids will have opportunities to respond to prompts and scenarios and learn how situations may feel to one another. Lastly, encouraging group work in order to foster friendships and allow the students to work together will help everyone create an inclusive classroom.
