Update: Reflecting on this goal, I feel I was able to develop it most within our Therapeutic Approaches Child/Adolescences Lab. Within this courses fieldwork we attended both a Boy's Home and Assabet Valley Collaborative which has educational, vocational, and transitional services for all different ages and abilities. I found that within AVC, many individuals who currently were not obtaining OT services at the time were very curious about what it was with one student quizzing us on the matter. It definitely allowed me to work on my articulation of the process as I had to describe it off the top of my head in a manner that is easy to digest for the students participating.

Update: Throughout the year I was able to work on my professional communication through email in various ways. I did not get the opportunity to email fieldwork coordinators, but I did attempt to make it a point to seek guidance through email with two of our professors regarding both assignments and office hour clarity.

One aspect of this goal that I was able to build upon in an area outside of our courses is professional communication with Worcester State University's OSILD. I recently became WSU's Intercultural Student Alliance Treasurer and this position requires constant email communication regarding the handling of a $50,000+ budget. This has greatly pushed me to become more comfortable with email communication as well as emphasizing the importance of professionalism and deadlines.

Update: One of the ways I found myself most demonstrating growth in this area was within our Older Adult fieldwork located at Tatnuck Park in Worcester. Within this fieldwork I was able to meet one-on-one with a client in sessions where we worked on balance and gait. I was interesting to have that one-on-one time and have to take the lead on the coordination of our sessions and how and where they were going to go within the hour. I would consider my sessions to be successful as I was able to bond with my client through our similar interest as well as completing my planned activity within the appropriate timing maintaining both her safety, attention, and energy especially considering the fact that our session occurred right after the facilities exercise group.

Regarding fieldwork documents, I completed each required fieldwork document provided by professor Wronka. Additionally, I took the initiative to print out optional worksheets to provide to my client as "homework" for her to do in my absence as we had very few sessions but she seemed to enjoy the work we did in that short time.
