The author is wanting to keep it in school because they say that kids should know about this to inform them and so it doesn't happen again. I agree with this because we need to read the books that matter, to inform kids about what really happened back in the 60's, we can't hide the hard truth from them. The kids need to know about what happened. I don't think they should read the book in middle school because they aren't as mature and won't quite understand the book as well as a more mature sophomore in high school.
