On December 10, at a special meeting of City Hall, Col. Griffith J. Griffith, a wealthy mining man, handed a beribboned scroll to Mayer Frank Rader. The scroll was Griffith's gift of 3,000 acres to the City of Los Angeles for the purpose of a public park known for decades as Griffith Park.<br><br>Situated in the foothills bordering Cahuenga Valley, and five miles north of the Los Angeles River bottom, the acreage had been known to Native Americans, Californios and ostriches! The changes have altered the landscape with each transformation.   Time holds the memories...you tell the story!<br><br></div>]]></description>
