After the fateful bus journey, Rosa initiated the civil rights movement in the US. On the 1st of December, 1955, Rosa parks was officially convicted of violating segregation laws. This led to a bus boycott organised by the local black community leaders. The boycott was led by a young Martin Luther King Jr. , and continued for more than a year. Her actions lead to a radical change in the society around her.

Rosa never gave up on her dream to have an equal America. She risked her own life instead of others and encouraged open-mindedness throughout the campaign. For several years prior to the famous bus boycott, she had already been campaigning for better treatment of the black community. She helped to spark the civil rights movement and did everything in her power to make her dream a reality.

Throughout the boycott, Parks stood up for her beliefs, no matter the cost. This could have offended many people, however she always ensured that it would be a peaceful protest. Some people that she could have offended were the bus driver (James Blake), with whom she'd already fought with against black rights, and the person for whom she'd refused to give up her seat. This could have impacted them to see how others were affected by the lack of civil rights.

Rosa believed that everybody should have equal rights. Because of this worldview, she therefore clashed with people who believed that black people should have less rights and that non-black people were 'more important'. Rosa was impacted by her faith, and she firmly believed that God had meant to create everybody equal. She fought for what she believed in even though most people thought that she was it meant doing something different and going against the crowd
